I have heard that the WS6's weigh more and are therefore slower. But... I had four people in my car and raced an 01 STOCK Z28 (supposed to be lighter than a WS6 and SS) with 2 people and pulled him pretty good with the lid and catback. So take that for what it's worth, I have yet to race an SS with similiar mods so that's all I've got for now.

He was racing, I talked to him after the race on a local board that we are both on. He is a completly stock A4 and I didn't pull him all that much but I did pull.

EDIT: He is a '98, my mistake, the '01 is another guy I was thinking of. I know it doesn't make that much of a difference but it does make a difference regardless.

I raced my boys 01 WS6 from 65MPH roll and he's an A4. I have a 99SS M6 and I'm stock. He has a K&N intake and I blew his doors off like he was a 6 banger. I'm not joking I put like more than 6 cars on him. His name on here is allblackpontiac. A4 on a roll without a stall I think are pretty slow. When I raced a SRT-4 from a roll I didn't even pull that hard on a ugly *** neon. I think that sRT-4 would have beat my friend from a roll too

It comes down to combination (A4 or M6) and who got the stronger motor from the factory....nothing more to it.

I have a 99 a4 T/A and my car ran the same time stock as my friends 2002 ss at the same track,it was diffrent days though. But point is it should be close. So it depends on the car and driver.Did he have the car in third and did it down shift to second when you guys were going 65.I'm sure a m6 would pull me from 65,but can't see a stock ss m6 pulling my car that hard from 60 unless I was starting @ a lower rpm.My car pulls alot harder if it downshifts to 2nd from 3rd from around 65.My brother caught me off gaurd once in a supercharged 05 monte and it didn't down shift right and talk me awhile to catch him.But when we did it again and I was ready and put in third to downshift to second it was a diffrent story.I'm not calling you a liar maybe your car is a factory freak or his just happens to have the opposite,or both,or he didn't down shift right?Just my .02 cents

I didn't ask him if he downshifted in his A4. He just told me how he couldn't believe how much I blew him by. I also took my friends 01 SS M6 out from a roll too, but I really think its because I know how to drive. I did however race my friends (Allblackpontiac) 01 WS6 from a stop and it was dead even till third and we shut down cuz we seen some cops, but luckly they didn't see us racing.

Hey if you guys want to be exact, I have seen that WS6's weigh 55lbs more than an SS due to mostly equiped with t-tops, lower ground effects, bigger nose and wing and the pop up headlight motor assemblies. They also have some extra interior add ons such as the bigger seats and power lumbars. Either way, Its not an issue. Drivers race always. If you wnat to be the closest in weight get the WS6 Formula. The bare Trans Am with the ram air hood, that would be the closest to the SS in weight. Notice also that due to that fact, if you look at the air box on the TA's it is 50% larger, to make up for the extra weight, its right where the airbox sits on the radiator, its an inch or so tall or taller. I just wasted all this time.

uhh..... is it really a different body style? I didn't happen to notice. Anyways, since both are the heaviest of all the models I wouldn't think the weight difference would "make" a difference.

Thank you Jayplayss2 for the details. ^^ 55lbs = hardly noticeable, if at all.

Well from the looks of it it seemed the WS6 would be a lot heavier, but turns out its only a 55lb difference.

That sound about right. You had the advantage at 65mph his car stayed in 3rd instead of going to 2nd, if it was at 55mph closer to his gearing in the tranny it would have been alot closer, or maybe not. All cars are different. Thats why I wont race over a 55mph roll. Not all a4 with out a stall is slow.

OICCC...I just thought it would be so much closer. I was really surprised myself.
