Default eclipse

depending on what kind of turbo it is dsms can easily push 20-26 psi without blowing the motor. all i hang out with is dsm guys. those motors are very strong and can handle the boost. anyways unless u say what exactly the guy has nobody can say anything because theres no way of telling what kind of power hes making.

Careful guys, DSM fella right here. Honestly I take offense to being called a rice burner in a DSM. Leave that to the FWD Honda Acuras........ The great thing about the Talon-Eclipse-Laser-Galant VR-4 is it takes very little to get it to move. We did minimal mods to a 92 Laser RS, one of my friends, and ran low 12's with it. List of the mods at the time below

Buschur Racing 3" cat-back exhaust w/stock downpipe
Ported Exhaust Manifold
Extreme Technologies Boost Controller
Toyo Tires
Race Gas

Doesnt take much to get a DSM to move, and many of them are running 9's street legal

Not saying they are faster than F-bodies, just dont sleep on em....

Get drag radials and race him from a stop. If he's FWD and is making any power he's gonna have problems hooking.

ok, as for that being the fastest dsm, what is john shepard running now? And as for a dsm not being able to handle that much boost, not true. As for your buddy 68ss_00ss_87_95, he is probably running 19lbs on stock injectors, which therefore he is getting alot of knock, and the car is retarding his timing something fierce. This kid with the 60 trim could very possibly be running 19-22 psi with the correct mods, which are very minimal, prolly a new intercooler, as the stock ones get heat soaked very easily, bigger injectors, full turbo back exhaust, and some way to tune for the bigger injectors, whether it be an afc, or maf translator, either way. But he will have traction problems if it is from the line, or from a role, as long as it is from like 20mph. GS-T cars will roast the front tires when the boost comes on strong. They are mostly a good highway car. But good luck, and dont underestimate dsm's, they are really fast cars, with just a few mods. Not ******* on f-bodys, becasue i obviously own one. My gf also owns my old 95 tsi awd, and it is pretty quick also. Good luck

Just run it!

I run them all the time. I like letting them get all worked up and giving me their all (most rice don't hold back), so then I know what I'm up against.

Are they quick? They can be.

But you never know till you try.

Well i did'nt clarify...Shepards car is the quickest 1/4 mile time...Glazars talon is the fastest MPH talon.
John Shepard runs in NOPI and NHRA. His car is the street set-up. He has limitations to certain mods he can do to his car in order ta race in the events. Extreme motorsports Talon is a self sponsored car, and they can mod the car however they want. They race for fun.....just to give the people a show, and i promise they always do. I know shepards car was extremely fast in NOPI at Maryland International Raceway in April. Unfortunately i couldn't make it to the events, but i think he was beat by a rookie NOPI guy driving a Cobalt....someone finally matched him. If your more curious about shepard goto www.shepracing.com

it kind of disapoints me that there is so much...how can i put this... "4 cylinder ignorance," yet at the same time it excites me. It excites me because they ARE underestimated. I mean ferraris, and lamborghinis are 6 cylinders. Do you ever think the guys on the Viper forums talk about you guys and your small 8 cylinder, 5.7L, lol. Yet majority of your cars can beat them. So whats keeping a 6 cylinder, or 4 cylinder from being fast? Im not a honda fan or anything, outside their actual "racing world". Civics, preludes, accords all suck...but the NSX is a hell of a track racer.
To continue if anyone watched the Indy 500 all the lead cars were Honda. They are taking over.
If it wasnt for honda sport compacts wouldn't have a chance these days. Honda started it all, nissan hopped on right after that.

One more thing, people make fun of us DSMers when we tell them that we can make a 11 second car with $750, lol. Its true!

Shepherd has been tuning all month on methano so look the F out

it overheats too quick when it was on race gas, couldnt go much farther than 20 miles or so.

My moneys on the DSM.

Hell you can take a stock ls1 to 11's for $750 also, but its going to be reliable still. DSM = not reliable.

I do agree though that people under estimate them, hell we had a fox stang guy want to run my buddies 2g eclipse for $500 last weekend, but went to the bank to get the cash and never showed back up. Sadly the eclipse looks stock but should turn a high 11 on pump gas/low boost.

So true....DSM transmissions are the worst. You should have them rebuilt by either magnus, or shepard racing to ahve a sturdy one. Stock just wont cut it.
