Default 240 Sx Problem :(

There's a 240sx the coupe ones older ones like late 80's I think here in town with the sr20 det engine in it and two t25 turbo's, other than that its stock....He was gonna race me today but didnt since he didnt have his boost controller installed, but he said he has about 7 psi w/o it and can crank it up to 14 with the boost controller...I was wondering my chances against it with a stock Camaro SS with only a catback exhaust, Tell me what you guys think....Thx

7-10 psi on an SR20? Is your car M6? Who knows for sure? I'd say you have a good shot... Closer to 10 psi- or more- and you might be in trouble. Unless it's for money, just do it!

SR20DET can hold a lot of boost stock, and make tons of power. It's the Japanese 240SX (Silvia) motor, which came stock from the factory with a turbo.

I'm gonna wager a little and say he doesn't have twin turbo's. Doesn't make much sense to put twin turbo's on an SR20. 1. Because most came factory with a single anyways, 2. Who twin turbo's a 4 cylinder car????? and 3. SR20DET means single turbo. Maybe it's a SR20DETT, but again look to above reasons.

Check his mods again 14 psi on a correct setup could be fast, they are light little buggers. But race him to see. I'd give you a big upper hand on this race though.

p.s. maybe he has a RB26DETT??

How the hell is he gonna put twins on a SR20DET? I call BULLSHIT on the TT's unless you've actually seen 'em. Go kick his *** cause if he's running a single T-25, you'll take him.

Just be careful.
I have a friend with an S14 and a RB20DET swap, suspension work, and gears. On his stock street tires (pretty skinny) he ran a 14.0 @ 98mph (dont remember the exact trap speed, but it was around that).

Any way, I raced him from a roll (about 40mph) and pulled on him pretty good (didnt leave 2nd gear because of traffic.)

But this is just the stock RB20DET remember, on a full weight 240 (he had subs too).

with slight weight removal that car can weigh about 2500 lbs depending how far they want to go....if that guy is gonna put 14psi on the turbo i would expect a front mount intercooler, downpipe, full exhaust w/ no cat, and with that kind of setup i think the area of 250whp is very possible....no one twin turbos an sr20, but if he does have a twin turbo motor, say the rb26dett, and he really is running 14psi prepare to get whopped

I know a guy with a SR20 240 putting 420ish to the wheels and running mid 11's. Granted this was not on the stock turbo.

I have to agree with the BS call on the twins for the sr20. That would be kinda silly to twin turbo an inline 4cyl.

if its twin turbo its a sr20dett, there is a twin turbo version of that motor. thats not the skyline motor either, the skyline motor is kile Reb26tt ot something like that, the sr20 are silvia motors,

I've never heard of an SR20DETT from the factory. Doesn't make sense to run a turbo off of only two cylinders. and is the stock motor in the Japanese version of the 240sx (Silvia)

RB26DETT runs twins because its an inline 2.6 Liter 6 cylinder. (Skyline)
RB20DET runs single because its an inle 2.0 liter 4 cylinder. (Skyline)

(I spent two months contemplating the possiblity of a 240/skyline swap. Too much $$$$$$$)

Twin T25s? Sounds like a real Pain for a setup that would not do as well as a 16G. You will not have any trouble. 14 PSI is not much either. Unless he has some serious flow mods 14 PSI through a 2L is not going to beat you.

A stock sr20 equipped 240 with stock boost setting usually run bottom 14s, with the boost turned up to 13-14+ a frount mount and supporting fuel etc., you are looking at bottom 13s-high 12s with traction. So, you guys will be a good race when he turns up the wick, but for now you will pound him.

It also depends on the driver. Especially in such a light car, if he doesn't know how to drive and isn't familiar with the turbo set up, when they spool he could lose traction. Should be a good race.
