Default 06 Vette

We have a new guy here at work that just bought an 06 Vette M6 (not the z06, of course) and wants to race, do I have a chance ?

I have:

99 formula M6- FRA, K&N, !EGR, Lid, smooth bellows, flowmaster cat-back

I dunno if he knows how to drive it, but I'm not too bad. Are there any techniques you would recommend to give me an advantage?

It'll be from a dig and probably shut down ~100mph

The '06s are out already?

A dig to 100 is just short of a quarter mile. So, with the new vettes easily running in the 12s, can you hang with that?

Gonna depend mostly on the driver since both are m6's, but he has a pretty good advantage. Get a cut out on to bypass the flowmaster and you might be able to hang a little better.

With your current mods, no you dont have a chance. Unless the other guy messes up driving.

Realistically with full bolt-ons and an exhaust that actually flows some air f-bodys can run with them. Atleast until they get that torque management fixed, then I'd imagine it'll get a little tougher to run them.

I had a 2000 C5 just before buying the SS. Even with a couple mods on the SS, the `vette felt quicker.
Take it for what it`s worth.

if you have to ask, the answer is usually no.

...and yeah the C6 is lighter than the C5, by about 400lbs. or so.

^ So the C6 weighs 2800 lbs????

I highly doubt that. I'd say more around the C5's 3200-ish lbs, but still faster from the LS2 obviously.

if this guy has the z-51 (pretty sure thats the name) performance options it is a little faster too...i watched a video where a c6 with the z51 package ran closely with a c5 z06 they are fast

it would be tough for you to win right now

If you can run 12.5 or better, if you have traction issues, do a 30 or 60 roll on...and record it so we can see...
