Another Maxima Race
A buddy of mine drives a 02 maxima with 6 speed tranny. He has an intake, y pipe, and exhaust. He's also 320lbs himself and has a 300-400lbs custom trunk.
So, he always made fun of me when I was driving my tiburon. I could stay even with him until 50-55mph and then he'd just leave me. Now that I got a Z we were driving down the road one day and just came up to the red light together, so I figured he wanted to run.
I wasn't 100% sure that we were gonna race, so I didn't start the car like I should have. I just went from idle. By the time I hit 40mph he was at least 2 cars behind me, so I thought he wasn't racing and I shifted into 5th. Later on when I saw him he started talking **** how he bogged down at the light and he was keeping up with me and if he had a better launch it would have been very close, etc.
So, now I'm waiting to race him from a roll so he won't bitch about traction and such.

Well, they have 250tq and he's not the best driver in the world, so he always has issues with traction.
I would race him from 25-35mph roll just to embarrass the hell out of him.

We'll do it next weekend probably.
He said he would have been really close is he didn't bog down, but he didn't consider that I started from the idle as well.
He also said that with 50 shot he could take me..... I thought it was very funny....

Don't hate on the Maximas toooo much. I sold my 96 SS to pay for college and bought a 98 SE 5 speed. With Cold air and catback I would beat 96-99 GT mustangs all time. (Not kill them, but a win is a win) Plus my gas mileage was great and my insurance was HELLA NICE! I have since sold it and got back in the F-body world, but that Maxima was the perfect college car!

Shrug... Maximas are not sports cars, period... but they're really good at being what they are: sporty mid-range economy sedans. I love my Max, even if it'll lose a lot of races... winning's what the LS1 is for. That said, that guy has NO CHANCE against your car. He'd be closer with that 50 shot, but he'd still lose. The longer the race goes on, the more you'll beat him by.
