Default 350z

what mods would it take for a 350z to stay beside an ls1? i raced one last night and we stayed side by side until roughly 90 when i finally started to pull him. it was quiet, well not that i could hear it over my car anyway, but it suprised the hell out of me. raced 2 times once from stop (i need to practice launching with my tc) once from a 45-50 roll. gave him the jump both times. i stopped his pull but it took until 90 to start reeling him in and passing him.

my mods are lid, tsp catback, 3600 stall, shift kit, pptb,

o and since i havent saved the money to get a tune i couldnt stay off the rev limiter. so i'm guessing that had something to do with it. fast car though

it would take quite a bit to have it hang with a stock ls1..let alone a modified one. even headers and a full exhaust are barely worth anything with those cars.a supercharger will get them into the low 13s.

i hope you mean torque converter and not traction control....you do know not to launch/race with the TCS on right? i am suprised he stayed with you at all really, i would think he would need intake, exhaust, cams...and more to beat you.
i am eventually gonna race this guy i know who has a 350z w/ intake, exhaust and cams and it will be fun, see if those things can make any power

could be a factory freak!

You guys know that they have track version of 350z, which puts out 300hp and is 200lbs lighter than f-bodies...

It takes all of the bolt-ons and Cams to hit 270ish RWHP on one of those so it could have been that or he could have been spraying a medium sized shot.

nismo parts

headers=1200
catback=? 1100
intake=350
cams=1600

4250 for 270whp...lol I know that they are lighter than a fbody, but that is still 30 whp less than a ls1...stock. and I'm sure those prices don't include install..and I know its nismo stuff and its probably a lil more expensive then jwt and stuff, but come on.

Show me the dyno graph..that would be the highest 350Z dyno I have ever seen and well more than any of the online forums have listed. Not even the 05's are dynoing that high. Right now, I am calling BS on 266 RWHP stock.

These #' seem a bit too high to me also. There's got to be something wrong. I went onto several 350 forums to get an idea of what they dyno, and this is what I came up with.

Example: 1-JWT intake, kinetix intake plenum, y-pipe/exhaust, unorthodox pulley= 242rwhp/222ft.lbs.

Example: 2-Stock-237rwhp/230ft.lbs.

Example: 3-Exhaust, gutted cats, Nismo intake=235rwhp/232ft.lbs.

Example 4-Cold air kit=233rwhp/220ft.lbs.

Example 5-Vortech(9lb. pulley)=346rwhp/305ft.lbs.

The 350's dyno #'s I've seen all seem pretty consistent. 266 rwhp/271 ft.lbs. is just too far out of line. Before the guy with the vortech had it dialed in, he was making similar #'s to FormulaV8A4's.

I have raced 2 at the track as well as 1 modded G35. Both had headers and exhaust. It wasn't even close.

i'd love to post up the pics of the chart,and my timeslips,hell even a video from the track,but unfortunatly,i dont have a pic scanner,and my dig.cam fell outta my pocket on the highway while i was on my bike,so it is no more. and really,the 05's are just kinda retarded..more hp,less tq...worse powerband,and a little slower

i'm aware...but bolt ons don't really give much with them...hence why i said it would take a bit to make it as fast as a stock ls1.

Yeah, and don't forget, stock LT1's dyno around 340 rwhp, too. It's just the newer LS1's wider powerband that makes the LS1 seem slower, too!

BTW, look at this price for a blower kit for the 350Z VQ motor:
http://www.hksusa.com/products/?id=2339

Look at the price, I mean. These "low 13/high 12" 350Z's are out there, but they sure spent a pretty penny to get them there. I say at least $10k for powerplant and tuning mods alone. I bitch sometimes about the price of LS1 stuff, but we can't complain.
