you dont need advice, what you need is luck, im afraid. you can also request the officers notes, which is a definate great idea. you have to write in to request it, though, but you do have a right to it.

I dont see how that is somthing they can get you for. remember in the american court system it is the job of the state to prove [B] that you did somthing wrong and aginst the law. What is excessive acceleration??? I always beat the cops to the speed limit. They have slow heavy cars if you give your car the same % of the throttle that the cop is giving his car of course your going to get to that speed faster. you produce more power and have less weight. Man assclown cops **** me the **** off. (Im not saying every cop is an assclown but just like in every other job their is always "that guy")

Yes, you can ask, but the answer can be "no". There's not a regulation in any of the 50 states that says an officer must let you see the radar gun.

The best advise you got in this thread is to get an attorney if you want to fight it.I dont know why everyone gives the cop such a hard time.Everyone keeps talking about speeding, yet the ticket wasnt a speeding ticket.Which from what you say,you were doing around 42 in a 30.The cop says 53.Its not a speeding ticket so it doesnt matter.

You say you took the rpm up a little higher than normal, shifted to 2nd and coasted.Maybe you went alittle higher in rpm then you thought and coasted to 12 mph over the posted speed limit, from what you say,23 mph over from what he says. The ticket was for "exhibition of acceleration" which sounds like what you did from what you even say.

Not to be a dick, but it sounds to me like your were messing around and got caught.Something we're all guilty of sometimes, some just havn't been caught yet.Be mad at yourself for being caught not at a cop for being an ***.

Cops irritate me sometimes as well.Threads about I got a ticket, the cop was a *** or *** or whatever you want to call them get old. They're human just like everyone else.If they're having a bad day I'm sure it gets taken out on a few people they pull over.Just like when your having a bad day I'm sure a few people have to deal with it.

Ihave to agree with WhiteRhino on this. We as humans tend to **** up and get caught. there really isnt much we or you can do about it. But if he did get you on radar, and most cops nowadays have camera's in there car's, they can use the video in court to prove you wrong or right.

I get caught up in the moment in my WS6 alot...(cause I dont get to drive it much, being overseas fro most of the year, anyway)...you just have to be careful and go throu the motions and hope he doesnt show in court and just take it like a man...

Sorry

Guys i know i probably messed up a bit, but this guy just completely blew it out of proportion saying i was putting the girl in the car with me's life in jeapordy and all those on the sidewalk around me (which there weren't any). He also took the girl next to me out of the car and ripped into her saying the she should be ashammed to ride with someone like me, blah blah. And, i dont think that my license should be in jeopardy because he had a bad day and decided to take it out on the kid with the nice car. I just hate when these small town folk rip down on the college kids with the nice cars thinking it is just another spoiled kid who's dad bought them the car and just want to show off to everyone. They never acutally see that i saved up FOREVER to get this car because it is pretty much my dream car and i am just a car enthusiast. Anywayz, i did get an attourney and am going to try to fight it and get it reduced at least, hopefully just take the class and get it taken off my record.
Thanks for the input guys, i will let u know what happens.

The only advice I can really offer you is to be as polite and courteous as possible. If you believe youre being wrongfully accused, state so, but you better do it in such a manner that will make the cop and judge say, "ahhh this kids not so bad..." They hold all the cards, and you really hold none. Youll come out ahead by bending over and taking it with a smile on your face as opposed to fighting it tooth and nail. If you really refuse to lie down and see if theyll work with you, you haad better get a lawyer and let him do the talking.

"Exihibition of acceleration" is much different than "contest of speed" which some here seem to have mixed up... It is a simple 100 dollar ticket, siimlar and no worse than a normal speeding ticket.....Take defensive driving and walla its gone.... NOT A BIG DEAL!

Around my area, Exhibition of speed is a big offense. Maybe not a ticket straight to jail like a speed contest is, but its a bit problem for you none the less. Heck, around here, unsafe start (chirping tires) is 4 points on your license.

I got a ticket for 'chirping' my tires when I started to accelerete in first. The cop was a complete ***. the when I went to court, the state attorney took me into a corener and told me I can either plead guilty or not guilty, but I was guilty since I did chirp the tires and chirping tires is a no no. He was a *** as well.

Before the state attorney came over, the cop had a nice conversation with him. Im sure the cop didnt like since I was arguing with him that it was an accident, I was not raing the 4cyl Cavalier next to me. After he gave me the ticket I spat ourside, flicked my cigarette out the window, and told him that I would see his *** in court!

Had to pay $65.00 fine in court. Kinda sucked going to court on Christmas Eve for an 8:00 am court date.

yep, that was stupid. I am in court a lot, my sister was a DA for 3 years. Be polite to the cop, most of them are good guys, and don't mind letting you off after you have been given a ticket, but when you act like a jackass, they will mark their ticket, around here it is with a star, to let the DA's know not to give you any consideration..if you are a dick, expect to be treated like one

Sorry guys, don't mean to bring this up again but i thought of something. The police officer was parked on private property of the school waiting to pull people over. Is it legal for an officer to park on private property to radar people? I would think he would have to get the consent of the school security or something to be able to do that.

Around here the first ten or so feet of any private property is actually owned by the town, IIRC. Might be similar for you.

Daman....I think that what you were saying about small town folk ripping up on the "rich city kids" is totally untrue. Hell, all the cops around where I live (which is farm country) don't really give a damn. I got pulled over once for doing 75 in a 55 and he gave me a verbal warning It really seems to me like its easier to get out of a ticket in the country than in the city area.
