Like veryone said, don't get antsy outta the hole and light the tires up and you should be fine. It's prolly gonna come down to the launch though, should be a good race.

only if they are using tyres which operate in a higher heat range.

Normal road tyres do not take well to burnouts, they are designed to work in a lower temp range. By heating them up you will only wear them out and actually lower their potential grip.

DR's or ET's are a different matter however.

Yeah, street tires dont really like burnouts, some get "greasy" instead of "sticky" others just get hot. I always heard when on street tires, just avoid the water box and dont air them down, if they wont hook when properly inflated, then get a better tire, the stiff sidewalls do NOT like being run underinflated.

True...sort of.

Air up the fronts to about 40psi and drop the rears to 22-24psi. Do a quick
burnout...enough to clean the tires only. Stanger88 is right, they get
"greasy".

This will be an easy LS1 win considering it's an A4. It may be a little
different if it were an M6 because you actually have to drive it then.

I heard the computer won't allow it to lose traction stock, so no burnouts, but wicked quick 60'. Not sure how accurate that is, except for the 60' part. They own stock f-bodies at the 60' race, apparently.

Stock the new Stangs have very very conservative gearing.
Weight is a wash, the new ones lost all the advantage the old ones had over an F-Body.
You make more power. Cutout>cat back.
You both have live axles, his is better, but after 60 feet it wont help him.

Win to F-Body.

unless you suck at driving and weigh 750lbs you should take him.
Its got lots of similarities, but its not an LS chassis. Its a Live Axle for one thing....

I guess a 3.35 first gear and a 3.55 rear end is conservative..... pffffttt. Conservative my ***...And the ECU not allowing burnouts??? The stang we played with at my dealership would spin the tires 2nd (about 5' of tirespin shifting conservatively) and 3rd when one of my customers drove it. And as far as losing all teh advantages, the new ones do better than the 99-04's. (but yes, they did add a few pounces...) The vert's are only 150# heavier than the hard tops though, that is an improvement. And thats right Spare, the new S197 platform is unshared with any other ford vehicle. Although it does have designe cues from a few.

Man I can't stand these... everytime I see a "who will win" they never post to keep up to date or even race. At least his father owns the car, but when is this going to go down? Can we get a date? I think the stang will win.

Hey man, dont even worry about it.. You'll massacre him. My buddy has a 99 FIREBIRD, yes a V-6, and he raced a mustang GT with some kinda catback... The GT got smoked and just didnt even bother stopping after the race.
