Default Awesome race with a Viper!

I was cruising to my girlfriend's house yesterday when I see a silver car approaching fast. At first I thought it was a new Z06, but it turned out to be a new Viper (500hp). I quickly got up next to him after he passed me and I motioned to see if he wanted to race. He nodded and motioned for me to take the jump. His mistake, I took off from a 60mph roll and walked away good with him barely able to stop my pull nevermind pull back. I beat him by 1-1/5 to 2 cars. So he definitally wanted to go again so we lined up after slowing to 50mph. He counted down and we hit it. He pulled a 1/2 car off the start and then it stayed that way until 110mph. We lined up once more from a 40mph roll. He counted down and then we went. Same result, him getting 1/2 a car right away and then it stayed that way until 110ish.

I was definitally psyched, and he slowed and rolled his window down. He asked if I had a supercharger and I said no. He said, "Well I know that thing ain't stock". I laughed and told him it had a cam and some bolt-ons. "Awesome car," he said and then he gave me a thumbs-up which I returned and then we went our separate ways.

Very awesome race!

Tight work man. From a dig, on the street, you probably would have taken him out.

Sounds like you had fun, and thats awesome man.

You have 420rwp with just a cam and bolt-ons? What cam? What bolt-ons? Great race story. He'll fear LS1s from now on.

Thanks! Yeah, it was a ton of fun. I've been looking to race a C5 Z06 or a 450hp Viper since I got the cam, but this was even better. Judging from this race, I think I'd pull the Z06 a little and be about even or maybe a little better than the Viper.

I have an ESP1 cam. 230/236 .551/.551 112LSA Basic bolt-ons include headers, no cats, cat-back, lid, FAST 78mm throttle body, 3.73 gears, Nittos, Pro 5.0 shifter. I have no idea why the car made as much power as it did, but I'm not complaining. They only had one other car make that much with this setup. Most were in the 380-390 range with the same cam.

Nice kill/death. I never get to race any cool cars when I'm in the Firehawk.

I was on the way to the gun store this morning pick a new piece I ordered. This time I was in my 420 rwhp 'Hawk since it was a nice day. On the way I pulled even at two different lights with a 35ish year old in a new 997 C2. Both times he never even attempted to line up with me. Maybe it was the heavy loping cam that made his tail stay between his legs.

You can say that again! I never find anyone willing to race with me. I always find great cars when I'm cruising around town in my "intimidating" Montana!!

Sometimes I start to rev at ricers just to get something going but almost always they look the other way......

I've been running my borla with no plate at all in it, but I just put the full plate in because I' like the idea that other than the borla tips, the car looks 100% stock. The the plate closed, it even sounds pretty quiet. I'm hoping I can sucker a few people into some races

I'm running an SLP dd exhaust which is pretty tame until you floor it. I don't drive like an idiot eigther. Even with the tame exhaust the car sounds pretty mean with the cam mixed in.

OK, probably a newbie question, but what is a new 997 C2? Sorry if this is a dumb question...

The new 911 Porsche. It's called the 997. It has similar headlights as the mid '90's 993, then came the 996 in 1999 which had the first ever water cooled engine. Now the 997 has a watercooled engine but is getting back to it "roots."

nice kill 4 sure!

when i had my ati blower on, i couldnt get a 94 hennessey 550 viper to race me, he said i would win and it would be a waste of time for him. lol.

the only exotics that i have raced was a lambo the gallardo(sp) i didnt have the blower on either. kicked his ***, i pulled around 95mph, neck and neck up until then. i think those cars are overrated big time, low 12's are the 1/4 times i have seen the car listed in magazines. I had witnesses on that too, a friend of mine was riding with him and i had a passenger too.

aston martin vantage with the blower on, smoked his *** from 60, i shut it down at a 140 and had a couple of buses on him. we both exited off the highway, he wouldnt look at me at the red light, his girl was looking over and smiling though

Definitally fun running high end cars and not getting dusted. Like I said before, the dude with the Viper was real cool, but I hope he shook his head a little when he put his car away that night
