I think he might not know that much about the car. 350Z's have a gov. at 159 stock and not many people bypass that unless they have some serious mods on the car. How would he know it was 172 mph when we only read 160 on the cluster and I don't believe that our Digital Speedo goes past that but i'm not sure on that.

He's probably using "ricer math." Car has 287 hp, cold air intake adds 15 , exhaust adds 30 .

350z's are way down on torque and they weigh more. I also doubt he went 172 mph.

Ummm a 350Z is lighter than an F-Body....

And they are pretty torquey for only being a V6 (274lb/ft I think). With 3 miles of straight highway I don't see 172 being impossible, however you would probably have to use most of that 3 miles.

You're right about the weight, I just looked it up. The 3600 lbs. I was thinking was for the roadster. The coupe weighs 3339-3404 depending on the options. Just a little less than a coupe f-body.

274 lb/ft of torque is way down compared to the 330 lb/ft or so our cars are rated at.

It's not impossible to do. The car has a great top end. One guy that goes by Joedirt on here and Z forums has a single turbo 350 that is producing like 440 wheel power which is awsome. He was on here and really cool about racing a new Z06 that a lot of these guys will remember. He I believe has gotten the car past that speed and he says it did it with ease. Even my brothers 300ZX TT did around 160-165 in fifth gear. They do have great top end without a doubt.

Stock 350 Z's weighs about 3200lbs & only puts down about 265whp/250wtq on a dyno, that i have witnessed.....and at the track i've never seen a 350Z N/A go faster than a 13.8 at 104 mph but not bad for a dohc V6 The LS1 F-body stock throws down about 310whp/320wtq and only weighs about 3300-3400lbs....pretty big difference IMO

Well first of all on the stock rear end you WANT a little wheelspin, dead hooking it over and over on hard runs equals the kiss of death for the good 'ol 10 bolt... although I guess that's not as much of a prob for you being A4. Second of all with the TC on if you're too aggressive the computer cuts so much of your power you'll be sitting there at the starting line watching him get smaller and smaller while cursing at your gas pedal.

IF this guy actually has 330 rwhp (which I highly doubt ) he may have a shot at you NA, I think it would be a driver's race. If you spray there's no question you'll crush him... for less than $300 not including labor, might not be a bad idea to pick up a heavy duty tranny cooler and TA girdle first tho.

Then there's the fact that it wasn't built to tear up the strip...

I wouldn't race the guy with the 350Z.

He has magical powers that enable him to know how fast he is going, considering 350Z speedos only go to 160. An N/A 6cyl with LT1 power will have a hard time even getting going that fast.
