Default LS1 Vs LT1

I just wanted to say hi to everyone since this is my first thread. I've always gone to this site and read plenty of threads, but never made a name. Now, about the race.

I was driving down the road the other day, when I see a nice LS1 Z28 coming up from behind me. We caught a light and were talking for a min. I told him that we should go from a dig or 10-15 MPH. He said alright and we proceeded through the light. For some reason, we never went from 10-15 MPH, lol. I tried to get him to slow down, but 30 was as low as he would go. I think that is a pretty nice hit for the LS1.

Anyway, he is a little ahead of me while we do the 3 honks. Everytime I moved up to get even, it seemed like he would want a higher roll, so I sacrificed being slightly behind. 1, 2, 3 and he hit it a little before me and I stayed right next to him. I pulled slightly and got right next to him making us dead even. At the end of 2nd I was pulling ahead slowly. When I hit 3rd, it started staying even again and then I started to pull. I heard him hit 3rd gear hard and I figured the LS1 would pass. To my shock, I still stayed ahead and was actually still pulling a little bit. I let off once I hit 4th, because we were getting up there. I was about a half a car in front. Maybe less. (I'm not sure what speed that would be though. 115 maybe )

It was a close race and I wanted another one. I told him, lets go from 10 Mph this time, or a dig. He told me to pull off so we could talk. He told me his mods and said he didn't want to race again. He said he was to paranoid to race around anymore. (I guess he can get a good hit and not give me one...) He was pretty stock. He had all the free mods EGR and a K&N. Also, he had a nice short shifter and a flowmaster, but not a full catback. I didn't check, but thats what he said. (It sounded good though)

I have a 95 Z28 A4 with a CAI, LT headers, LT4 KM, and a Y-pipe.

What do you guys think? Sorry for the long post.

Thats a very dangerous way to name a thread on LS1tech....

Not a long post, I've seen small books on here it seems.

The main difference of the LS1 and LT1, is the airflow.
LS1's breathe more freely in every aspect.
Intake, heads, exhaust manifold ( headers ) and even the exhaust.
Plus, a larger number of LS1's from factory ( but not all ) had 3.23's or 3.42's.

Take these differences away, and you will see how apt the LT1 really is.
I know of guys on here that just put on a nice stall with better gears, and have seen almost a full second difference in the quarter, without any other modifications.

2.73's bight the big one, but theyre ok on top end.

Odd, oh well, It sounds beliveable with your LT's and CAI. I remember I ran an LS1 and was even until 50 when he pulled ahead, but i was CAI only. LT's do a lot, I can easily see you pulling him if he was a tad slow on a shift or 2. Good kill.

Why is that? I think I missed something.

By the way, I know my car has the 3:23.

Is it because there is always a big discussion between the two?

Yes, with MUCH flaming, lol. So far this thread is VERY civil. Lol, take a look at my "ate a catfish" thread for a small idea of what this COULD have turned into (noone seems to read my posts so i gave it a rather risque title I will admit )

This kill story is obvioulsy fabricated because we all know the LS1 can neva lose!!! Sorry, since it was predicted I just had to be an *** there.

BTW, nice race with the LS1. Sounds like you're running really strong. I do understand why he didn't want to race again and take a chance on you getting the jump first though. Think about it. He took the break from you and still got passed. He knew it would just get ugly if you go at the same time or if you go first.

Nice kill.

The stock manifolds on LT1's suck but you have LT's. I honestly was expecting you to lose but so was everyone else I am sure. Proved me/them wrong!

The quote became famous as it was Dr. Robert J. Oppenheimer's first thoughts upon seeing the first test atomic bomb detonate. It was originally written in the Bhagavad-Gita.

There are two different quotes as well. Oppenheimer said "..the destroyer of worlds." However the original text, translated, says "..the shatterer of worlds." I like the original version better.

http://www.atomicarchive.com/Movies/Movie8.shtml <--- the actual movie where the quote came from.

It was a good race though. (even though we went from his spot) With the mods I have, it wouldn't be completly irrational that I won, right?
