99 cobra
hey guys went to the weekley car show held every friday last night and thier were a gillian mustangs thier, anyway i hooked up with my buddy who has an 04 mach 1 and we were talking about the new vortec he just had put on and one of his boys rolls up in a red 99 cobra with the clear euro tail-lights, anyway, this guy is cool, he likes my car and i get alot of props from the stang guys and me and my boy with the mach 1 head out cause it looks like its gonna rain and his boy comes along with the cobra, well we are all heading the same direction as luck would have it to get home and this guy pulls up next to me cause my buddy cant race me, (even though if we did he would kill me, cause he burned up his clutch at the track) and gives me the thumbs up for a burnout i did at the last stop light. then he gives me the look and takes off, so like a good sport i jump it too and what the hell do u know, i reel him in and then put a good car and 1/2 on him!! im an a4 and he is an m5, now i know its not supercharged but damn, my buddy with the mach 1 used to just barely nose out ahead of me on the interstate before he went S/C so i figured a cobra would do the same!! So anyway just wanted to share a kill and see if u guys knew what the stock hp ratings were on the 99 cobras!!

yeah, i was definatly suprised with its lack of performance and my suprisingly good performance, guess im still just phyced i beat a late model cobra, s/c or not!! another reason im so happy is, ive been beaten by one of the mid 90s cobras on the interstate by a good distance!!! Guess i need to see past the emblem!!!

i fear the older (pre-98) cars more than the newer ones. it seems that the older ones have already been rebuilt, and of course boost or some sort of power adder was used to keep up with today's chevrolet. i have been whipped by more 88-93 mustangs than anything else. the quickest/fastest car i know of around here is an 88 notch pushing like 1,400 hp. it's a legit 4 sec. 1/8 mile car, street legal, that is always picking on the gsxrs and busas. the mfer still has power windows and tilt wheel...and a "detachable" chute.

Great kill.
I had a run with a 98 Cobra not too long ago and "kill" was an understatement. I literally had a bus-length on this guy. So much so, I let off the gas for a while when we were running just to confirm he was still trying - s346K said he fears the older ones and I agree, in my 1993 Chevy extended cab Silverado, most guys think - old, slow truck, until they look slackjawed at the smackdown I just handed to them.
However, I had a 85-ish LX model mustang nearly hand my hat to me. I'm sure if we had gone topend, he probably would have, cause though I had a length and a half on him, that's all I got - he stuck at that point until we had to stop at the next light.
Way to go!!
