A friend of mine has a 2002 Mustang GT. He's got intake, plenum, throttle body, basani off road x pipe dumped. Also got 4.10's and some kind of tune/chip.

He took it to the track and ran a consitant 13.1 on dr's.

Now while he's never talked **** to me, some of our mutual friends seem to think that his mustang would put it on me, because he's raced some other LS1's and pulled them, even pulling a few from highway rolls.

So fast forward to last night. We are at a local hangout with some other cars, trying to see if we can get something going but nobody else is really interested in running. Finally we decide that we're gonna go check out a spot that a friend found and see if its as good to race on as he thinks.

So we roll out and check it out. Its a perfect spot, almost a mile long, flat as can be, just resurfaced and its off the main drag and secluded so law enforcement isnt really an issue.

We decide we have to check it test it out so the Mustang and I decide to run. Theres another basically stock 5.0 out there behind us and we get him to honk the first run off for us. He doesnt honk 1..2..3 like most people, instead its 1.........2.....and the Stang takes off when he think the 3rd honk is coming. Problem is there was no third honk.

So, I take off when I see him jump. It catches me off guard and I panic and get into it a little too hard off the line and spin bad. Stang pulls me by 2 out of the hole. I hit second and start creeping back into it. By third, my bumper is at his door and I'm pulling noticably. By fourth, theres space between us and by the time we cross the line, I've got somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 cars on him.

He tells me he missed fourth gear, and since I screwed the launch so bad we needed to run again.

I agree and we turn around and get ready to go.

This time, we get the kid to flag us instead of honking.

I was ready the second go around and pedaled it out of the hole, not spinning too badly. This time, he only pulls about half a car on me. As soon as I really hook I start to pull, not too hard but very noticable. By the time I shift into second, we're already even with me pulling. Third, theres space between us and by the time I hit fourth and we cross the line, I'm about four up.

From my car it didnt look like I put 4 lengths on him but, thats what everybody else said and he agreed.

All in all, was a good night. Got 2 wins under my belt and after that I got to watch the '02 Stang embarrass the 5.0.

We got the runs on vid, but the video really sucks because of how dark this road is. You can hear us and see us cross the line, but other than that its just headlights.

Check it out if you want too, but dont tell me how bad it sucks because I already know.

all i saw was some flashing lights, and alot of noise. there were cars in that video?

 

Damn, you guys are harsh critics. I guess this only means I have room to improve.

Next time I'll see if we can get another camera and maybe lighten it up.

I looked forward to seeing a good race and all there is are some lights! your can't see what cars are racing.

Here's and idea ever thought of doing one in daylight!

 

I wish we could go run there in daylight, but unfortunately, we cant. That road leads into a small airport and during the day theres too much traffic and law enforcement.


I am sorry about the shitty video guys, but you can hear it and you can tell who crossed the line first. Next time I'll try to get some in car or something and if we can swing it, we'll set up a day run.
