sorry to post up a loss, but it wasnt a bad one, i dont mind losing to a blown cobra...any who heres the full story...so im leaving school yesterday and i head out towards work, well i see this guy in a 01/02 cobra so i think i have a chance right? so i pull up next to him and he has his window down, he looks over and says before i even speak, "wanna run em?" well by this time im next to his engine bay and i can hear the damn supercharger whine and i was like, ****, so much for another win...so anyway, we get outta city limits and punch em from a 30 roll, he def. had the advantage having a stick but we couldnt go from a dig, too much traffic...so i start spinning bad and he fn leaves me hanging (damn runflats) so we pull over at a church right down the road and i shake his hand and we talk for a while all while i was supposed to go to work 15 minutes ago, find out he's got a ported eaton blower and some longtubes...i didnt really have a chance, but it was fun nonetheless to hear the cobra run!

 

Good Death. Time to buy some more mods

I also need to do some modding. But at least your lose was to a supercharged car and not just a bolton cobra

 

oh i would have been pissed! haha, it was my first loss out of like 12 races, kinda a downer but i knew the outcome, my play tires(runflats) didnt help in the traction area either..

Good thing that you're brave enough to post a death, but all the excuses are not necessary. Only make you sound like a ricer. Not that you are, but excuses are usually associated with the import crowd.

 

99/01 cobras aren't S/C. I don't believe there is 02 cobras. You mean the 03/04 ??

 

there is no 2002 cobra, and I doubt its a 99 or 01 with a ported eaton, although the eatons from the 03-04 cobras can be put on the 96-01 cobras it takes fabrication and really would not be worth it when you could get a vortech or procharger for around the same price, so you most likely raced a 2003 or 2004 cobra w/ the ported stock blower....you can tell the difference by the wheels, front and rear bumpers, spoiler and hood which are all different from the 99 and 01 models....but anyways nice death, no shame in losing to a terminator

 

Nice death. Good post too. Unfortunately I know how it feels ouch. I try to remember that there is always somebody faster. The good news is that they diddn't make many of them. So running accross one is rare.

I say don't mod to beat a particular car. Pick a trap speed that you want to hit and mod for it.

There will be always someone faster!

 

If they guy really had a ported blower and long tubes, chances
are he had all the other bolt ons & fuel system mods done as well.
It's odd to have a ported blower with minimal other mods. He
should be making 500/500 at a minimum...which is enough to
put bus lenghts on a basically stock LS1.

Just ran into a guy at a local shop here in maryland. JPC (justin's permance center).

He had a 03/04 cobra with KB setup. Said he's pushing closer to 700whp. Said the car runs 10.20s and street legal.

I asked him about those new turbo setups, he said he seen them and is thinking about doing the swap.

 

yea i didnt have very long to talk to him i was already late for work and streetracing isnt a very good excuse, he got me pretty good, several carlengths, from a 30-65 roll he had 4 cars on me...

Yeah im sure if he had a ported blower he most likely had an upper pulley as well. How did it sound? Lol, I actually liked the sound of my ported eaton better than my KB (bit louder) 4 cars from 35-60 is pretty huge..

 

A ported Eaton is loud as hell...almost deafening if you fly past someone
at WOT and they have their window down. It's cool when you race
someone and they actually know the difference between a ported eaton
and a KB. They usually have that "oh ****" look on their faces.

 

Exactly, who cares if you lose, you raced and didn't bitch out. No reason to mod your car and turn it into a pissing contest, I know people who are like that and they have the mental capacity of a 5 year old.

 

Nice death and the sound at idle is the only thing that makes me think that it was not a 03 Cobra.. unless it has a Procharger or someting on it. My ported Eaton is quite as a mouse at idle. Could have bene a 99-01 with a SC too.

 

good race, atleast you guys pulled over and chatted. I agree with other, most likely had more then just the ported eaton and pulley. But yeah that sound is sick. My old L had a stage 3 ported eaton, 6lber, full exhaust, etc etc...you could hear me from a mile away.

 

I know how you feel. I was dickin around with an 03/04 maroon cobra on the highway and from a 65 to 120 roll, I was just laughin at how bad I lost. I just did it to hear the s/c at WOT. I will have a cobra after college.
