How much...
Should I fear turboe'd imports? Like today I was near a red Integra with a loud BOV and front mount intercooler. I was gassing it a little, but he wouldn't bite. I'm just wondering, with the vast majority of these cars, could I walk them? I have a 98 T/A with just an SLP lid, SLP MAF, and flowmaster 40-series catback.
Sweet, that's what I was thinking. I dunno wht people put so much money into FWD imports. It's hard to lay lots of power to the front wheels, plus it's harder to make torque out of 4-bangers. Although I have nothing against imports. But, if I was gonna get one it would be a S2000 or 350Z. Those Z's are fast and reasonably priced.
If he didn't want to mess with you, that means he more than likely knew what your car was and knew it wasn't going to look good in the end for him.
As long as they are ahead of their own type, that is all they really look for I guess, they turn a blind eye on most of the domestics, because even though they won't admit it, a farily large portion would rape them 10x over.

You pretty much have to watch out for most anything running boost, especially turbo-from a roll. I recently raced a mazda 6 with a turbo (7psi claimed) from about a 35-115 roll he was at my door. I had a steady but slow pull from 3rd up. But he openly admitted that due to fwd vs. rwd he would get raped from a dig. Just a friendly race with a very cool and knowledgeable import guy (very rare around here). I am completely stock btw.

I've seen both kinds on the street...I got my *** handed to me BIG TIME by a 240sx with an SR20 and a big turbo, and I've also raced an RSX with a turbo that I walked away from pretty easliy. Did the same to a Civic with a turbo.
Depends on how much money/time they really put in to it. On average, people don't spend the money or put the time in to an F/I setup to make it as fast as it could be...but there's always one out there somewhere that did.

IMHO generally you are OK. Most turboed low displacement guys are high 200s WHP. From a roll their weight and gearing advantages are not so big a deal. From a dig FWD is a handicap, so it evens out pretty well.
Having said that, theres are plenty of mid 300WHP cars out there as well. Much like LS1ed cars, its hard to tell sometimes whos got the goods and who does not.
And if the outcome was always sure, WTF would be the point.
A few weeks back my DSM freind made one last run on his very very high mileage stock long block 1G. Its midly modded, none of this bandwagon new school crap either. A 2G MAS, a 16G, a Supra sidemount IC. Very potent, but not a record breaker, and its very long in the tooth. Like below the service limit in every cylinder compression-wise. Like 180K plus miles of hard driving at high boost on pump. Just worn down.
Anywho, this primered beat to crap old car that sounds like it could swallow our cars and spit out a paper weight lines up next to him. After doing a smokey minute long fricken burnout. I am kinda bummed because I wanted my pal to go out with a win before a rebuild. This DRed old bucket even beats him at the 60. Must be over. "Holy ****" I hear someone say. I look back. My buddie pulls him back in 3rd and passes him. Ended up beating him out by a tenth and out trapping him by a few MPH too. We were exstatic.
Point being, the surprises are the best part. Go find a damn turbo FWD whatever and I think you'll be pleasantly surprised pretty often.

I will never forget my run with a boosted Integra from a couple years ago. We ran from a 50punch (I was running cam-only at the time, trapping about 118mph) and we were dead even to about 115mph. Did it twice. Got out of the car and shook his hand and he showed me his gutted Teg (stealthy) which boosted between 19 and 25psi depending on conditions. He was running about 22psi when we ran. That car made me humble.
