03 Cobra vs 680hp 56 Ford Truck W/VID!!
 

Well last night we went out to cruise around and hang out with a few friends. We were all standing around in the parking lot bsing and a 56 Ford pickup pulled in and was just sitting there. My buddy being a fan or the older trucks went over to talk to him, turns out the guy had a 540 big block in it and said it was making 680hp at the crank. We were all parked a few feet away and he asked my buddy so which of those cars is the fastest (we had a Mach 1, GT, Lightning and 2 03 Cobras) so my buddy tells him the black one and he kinda just smirked. So my buddy asks if he wants to run his Lightning and the guy agrees. My buddy knew he would get beat, but he also knew that I would be going out there as well :) So we we head down the road and they line up, I get behind the 56 and they take off so I hit it, I had to let off since I just spun, then I got back on it and started to reel him in, as I start getting close he moves over and at the top of 3rd im coming up hard, I shift to 4th and fly by him and shut down. We then take off to another road to go 3 wide. We get there and line up and hit it, I got a decent launch, im on street tires and the 56 is on drag radials. He had me by maybe a car out of the hole then once I stopped spinning I started to pull away, I didnt see how many cars I put on him, but I know at the top of 3rd he started to fall back fast. It was a pretty cool race.. My buddy in the Lightning took the vid, it wasnt that great since we left him pretty far back. The guy with the 56 said it had a full tube chassis and weighed 2900lbs and it was a Summit crate engine, he said he's ran an 11.6 with it letting off so he wouldn't get kicked off the track. Oh well, it was a fun night, I cant wait to get my new clutch in, it was slipping bad last night :)

He has 680hp and weighs 2900 lbs. and you beat him? I know it's a truck but are you sure it's that light, I would think that would be enough for him to win. But a vid can't lie, good kill. :drive:

Well, as far as his weight I dont know, im just telling you what im told. I honestly thought it would be a lot faster. The truck is pretty fast, you can see what both of us did to the Lightning. If I was on some drag radials and my clutch wasnt slipping it would have been pretty ugly for him. He said hes adding a 200 shot soon, so im sure he will want a rematch. I'll be getting my new clutch installed and methanol so I'll up the boost and get some DR's or ET streets if we do run again.

Most of my friend's videos of races were filmed with my friend's supercharged Tacoma... it was actually quick enough to get semi-decent videos. That was a low I5s truck, and was tailing a car that had roughly 440rwhp on motor, and sprayed up to a 250 shot. So they weren't great videos, lol, but good enough.

And to think Pete....I almost called you that night. I was bored, and wanted ot do somethin'...I was thinking of checkin' in and seeing if yall had anything planned.

Oh man you missed out it was pretty cool. Right now with the weather being kinda off and on its sux but you definitely have to come down one night during the summer, we get about 10 or so MSX cars hanging out and we just bs for a bit then chase whoever tries to pick on us :) We havent been out there too much lately, since we'va all been busy but Id like to start going out more. Dont hesitate to give us a call :)

Oh hellZ yeah I will......... Haning around BSing and Fing around sounds like a lot of fun....well for a guy with four kids it is. :jest:

Going great....I have only had one 'kill' story, and I didn't think it was worth much.

Killed a C5 Vert ont eh highway. I pulled out to pass and he followed suite on my rear...well................he saw instant weight loss..cause my rear was getting smaller, and smaller. :thumb:

Not when it's Blown...HAHA.....seriously though, I was happy, It was just a really short run, cause I was going to miss my last exit to get home (I stayed out to try and play). He wouldn't even look over at me.


And this was 10 miles after a Cobra Vert wouldn't even look at me. Of course it was driven by a 40+ (probably 50) yr old man, that kept it bone stock, and couldn't bother to wash it for about a month.....LOL

Lol, Billy just put a KB on a 58yo mans 03 10th Ann. We asked him how he likes it and he said he hadnt even driven it in a a wekk, he took it home and put it in the garage.

Hey whats up Pete, good kill. Hey were you guys kickin it at the old shell gas station and there was a red convertible cobra there(probably omar's). I dont know if that truck is pushing 680hp though, that guy marcel with the turbo civic beat that truck also, but good kill anways.

The truck had around 500whp, weighed 2900lbs, had a tire, and still got beat? I think he was fudging the numbers a bit. Good kills regardless.
