Default M3's?

Just wondering, stock for stock, who wins, an LS1 F-body or an M3? I was next to one at a light today and we both gassed it, then he turned off and I don't think he was giving it 100%, but I had a little distance on him, seemed like I mighta been able to get him. Anyone have any experience with this?

Never raced one, but the have very aggressive gearing in comparison to an Fbody.

It's a close race, I'd give the advantage to the LS1 froma dig, and to the M3 at high speeds.

Aren't the new ones a twin turbo? Sounds cool to me. Apparently they are made for those who want twin turbos with no spool noise in the cabin. I know the older generations were very weak without large mods, or by weak i mean high 13s at best. Seen one barely take down an L03 thirdgen once.

The high 13s ones were in the 90s (E36), the E46 (current gen) are low 13s cars in capable hands, and the twin turbo 3-series that you speak of is the 335i, which is in general a mid-high 13s car stock, but I have a buddy that got an intake/tune, and put down ~330rwhp.

Thanks for the info. Ok, good to know. I like the look of the E46 a lot better.

THe M3 usually wins after the F-bod hits 5th gear.

I raced an e46 m3 0-135 and had about 3-4 car lengths on him. He pulled up next to me after the race and asked if I was supercharged. All I have is a cutout.

The new ones that are coming out will be pushing 420hp and something like 285torque from a V8.

i have raced and driven many of E90's.... More torque+longer gears are the key here... But carefull, from the hole BMW's electronics and lightning shift can get you... Bottom line they seem to have more consistant 0-60 times (4.8), i dont know everyone else, but my 0 - 60 varies from the asfalt (grip level)...

I'v raced an E36 and an E46, both from a roll, when I only had bolt-ons and I beat both of them.......the E36 was funny because the guy was trying so hard and we went at it like 3-4 time and the result was always the same. The E46 was a closer race but I still pulled about 3 car lenghts on him from a 25-120mph roll.

Wurd with whats been said above. I've lost to two of the E46 M3s on the highway, and pulled one from 20-90 run. After i lost to the freeway ones, i learned that my tranny needs some fixin... time for a rebuild and then a rematch!

As i said above (sorry for the mis-print E-90) E-46 (bone stock) can be a very fast machine, especially from the hole...

Why should the E46 M3 faster after the LS1 F-Body hits the 5 gear on top end? The E46 had not the best aerodynamik for high speeds.
