Ok guys, I need your help on this one since I dont know very much about SS Camaros...There is a guy that wants to race me for a little bit of cash and im not sure if i want to do it or not. Guy has a 2002(ish) SS Camaro and he says its "stock"...Now im not a moron and I know for a fact that I could take a stock SS, I mean I have before but this guy really wants to race, like bad...so im pretty damn sure hes not "stock" so what could he have that would make him so confident that hes going to win that he would throw money down and not want to look under my hood, all i have is a Borla Catback...please help me, and mods, sorry if this is the wrong place for this, Im new here

Ahhh i see...im new here so i didnt know where to put it, anyways, i know i usually do take any race that comes to me, unless its for money, i just dont understand why people feel the need to "hustle"...i mean i dont ever hide anything for guys, if you think you got what it takes, try it...

 

If all you've got is exhaust, he could be full bolt-on's and take you possibly, or be hiding a small shot of nitrous. I am pretty much bone stock and I raced an 03 cobra with exhaust the other day and we were decently even until 3rd and he started to pull away.

But if he's "stock," then you'll most likely take him, unless you're a really bad driver.

 

If he's got a beefy rear-end and drag radials plus 3.73s or 4.10 gearing, he could stomp you off the line and you may not be able to catch up.

Stock for an LS1 usually means...Lid, filter, exhaust = 20rwhp easily.

The 01 - 02's were faster than 98-2000 anyways. I could see with the above stuff plus gearing, you're dead in the water if he's a good driver. It will be much like Kyle91z28's race, except with the drags and gearing, he'll stomp you off the line and you won't catch up.

btw, this thread will get locked b/c "what if" races are not allowed...

I know what you mean. Some people just like drama. I dont understand it myself, but they seem to think it makes them better than you.

The way I see it, having to hustle someone at all or prove something shows how weak you really are.

There's no telling what this guy has. Best way to tell would be to listen to the way his car sounds, and try to describe it for us.

And/or take a pic of under his hood and post it for us to see If he's trying to hide some nitrous.

 

If he has gears it'll be close, especially if he can drive.

The 01-02 f-bods only dyno like 10-15hp more than a 98-00, they got better exhaust manifolds and an LS6 intake, but they also got a smaller camshaft. The differences mean that its a drivers race between the years, with the edge going to an 01-02 IF the drivers are equal. So I wouldnt put to much of a worry on what year LS1 it is.
