Default killed a 2004 gto today

Well sorry fellow ls1 gtos out there about this one haha. Anyways was cruising home around 1am in the morning today as I saw a red gto pass me slowly so we started ridding along side each other for about 30sec or so then he just punches it my guess is he though he could get away which if it was a ls2 he probably would have but it was a ls1 so im like alright and throw it into 3rd and punch it as well, so by the time i hit 4th were dead even and im starting to have about a half a car lead I looked over quick and he looked surprised for some reason like he just expected to punch it and go away from me maybe he thought it was a sunfire or some other car idk was pretty odd though we went up to around 130 which by that time i had almost 3car lengths on him which I was surprised by actually idk if he let off at the end or what but that was a pretty fun kill lol

im going to have to raise the bullshit flag on this one guys, sorry but my buddy has a 99 formula , headers, free mods, slp loudmouth, p/p throttle body, we went from 45 and he got me by 3 car lengths and i was stock, so i would say if he got the hit and you took off in third you werent catching him, im calling bs but next time you post make sure you state what speeds you start at, in my opinion with the mods you have if you gave the gto the hit and you took off in third you aint catching him, also im assuming your comeback will be..."well he had an auto" or " he was a bad driver" just my 2 cents

I also think this story sounds strange.

My friend has an 04 GTO M6 with just intake. We raced a few times from 60-130 and i beat him by one car. My mods were lid, filter, Ported TB, cutout.

Then i put on LT's and duals and i would give him the hit and easily walk him. We raced from 25-120 and 70-130 and the results were the same everytime. I would easily walk him even though i gave him the hit. He would always have a 1 car lead and i would put 2.5-3 cars on him.

But i know there are many variables......so good kill.

on a basically stock LT1 vs a stock 04 GTO, i'll have to give the win to the GTO. not because i drive one , but because the power to weigth differences. i'm not saying lt1's are slow, just that an ls1 GTO should be faster compared to our LT1 cousins. now, anything can happen on the street.. so good kill ...

I think the OPs car is an LS1...

GTOs are no slouch that's for sure. A friend of mine has a bone stock M6 '04 and from 30-100 the most I ever got him by was about 3 cars (mods in sig)

Good kill

Good kill OP! I raced an '04 GTO last night too. I've raced an '05-'06 GTO before and won by about half a car. Anyways, he pulled up next to me and we slowed to 35 and ran up to about 120. I had about 2 cars on him. He said all he had a magnaflow (i believe) catback and I am bone stock.

My friend has stock 04 gto and I raced him basically stock with just flowmaster catback and K&N and I only got him by a car up to 110 and I basically got that lead off the line. They're more heavy than the fbod but not as heavy as to where they're gonna get completely smoked, it can be very close with the right driver.

i think earlier year models had left side only exhaust out, and no hood scoops.

Good kill!!! I used to feel bad about racing other GM cars here, but we'll get fat if all we eat is rice.

LS1 Fbody > LS1 GTO
LS1 Fbody < LS2 GTO

Thats stock for stock from all the experiences I have had.
