Default Ran a Benz to 160 MPH.

I'm sitting at a stoplight waiting to turn left. It's a very long stoplight so I was messing with my ipod for a little bit. Well...I didnt see the light turn green and the dude behind me got all pissed off (I don't blame him ). After I see that the light is green I make my left hand turn as normal. I look in my rearview mirror and see that this old dude is literally 3-4 feet from my bumper. I was still in 1st gear so I fixed that little problem. I pulled out about 8 cars on him up to 75-80 MPH. He didn't even downshift when I did that I dont think. After I got a little bit of distance between me and him I just continued to drive normal. I look up in the rearview mirror and see him coming up on me fast to attempt the flyby/slingshot on me. I went from 5th to 3rd at 75 MPH to see if I could hold him off. At 150 MPH he was DEAD even with me. We didnt shut down until close to 160 MPH. and I had maybe 1-2 cars on him.

Oh...when he was even with me I looked over and this 65 year old man either had his mother with him or he married somebody 20 years older than him. I'm not sure if the little old lady survived the race. lol

This was on a brand new dead end road that leads out to 6 houses in the desert so there was no traffic or any chance that there would have been anybody walking on the road.

Also...I dont ever recommend going 160 MPH with the top off your car. You wont be able to hear for about a day and a half.

I really dont know what kind it was. It was a big one though. The size of a 5 series BMW. It really was not that fast....he just had a big head start on me. I know it was not one of those V12s.

I was pretty surprised to see him next to me at 150 MPH though. lol

Most Benzs and Bimmers are governed at 155...so even if they beat you there you'll be able to pull away once you catch up!

I was fixing to say that, but I had a feeling someone would say it for me.

Nice kill. I love to hear 'bout races where some old guy wants to run with the young dogs again. You gotta give your opponent props for takin that other foot outta the grave and mashing the go pedal with it!
I raced an E420 w/my LT1 Caprice. I pulled him by about 2 car lengths gettin' on the highway then up around 90 mph he pulled 2 lengths on me. Someone told me those cars are built for the top end ' cuz of the autobahn.

I do whatever I can to avoid that "costly smoke"lol

Its hot as a **** in Tucson so the roads are all pretty sticky. I dont have much of a problem with smoking the tires until it cools down under 90. In the mornings and evenings when its around 80 I cant hook up very well at all.

I love driving in Tucson. My car breaths so much better there then in my town. And every time I'm there, I always end up running something, so it's always worth while when I'm there. And I guess thats whats good about AZ's 90+ degree weather....sticky roads

the one thing i like about mercedes is they have a very american attitude towards making cars fast. just add *tim allen voice* MORE POWER!!! mercedes actually uses some larger displacement V8's, superchargers and even V12's! i gotta give it up to that company. it's like a car company owned by germans that have had their brains swapped with the brains of americans.

I was like...what,..I can't hear you.

Thats how the corvette forums are. I copied and pasted the same story over there and it was deleted in 4 min and I go a 72 hour ban.lol

I'm not saying what I did was right by any means but if I did it I might as well share the story. Forbiding me to post about it wont change the fact that I actually did it. Thats the way I look at it.

Well you usually get the shameful finger and a lot of people rip you a new one. I got a thread deleted when I said I raced an Audi A3 on the freeway. I didn't even post the speeds at all. BTW we were dead even lol. I hope I can afford a faster car some day but the focus is fun around town.

yup the german cars are governed at 155mph, its called the gentlemens speed limit over here. driving on the autobahn is a blast, you just gotta watch your rear view mirror very closely if your in the fast lane. if you aren't stuck in traffic, behind a truck, or going through a speed zone traffic ususally flows around 100 mph around here. i absolutely love not having to worry about speeding, just gotta watch out for traffic boxes, and speed zones. gonna suck when I leave here tomorrow to come back stateside and 65mph speed limits....
