I was heading up to a car show today and this guy in a toyota (I dont know what kind of toyota it was, but it looked like it was a early 90's or late 80's) with one of those loud annoying exhaust systems was in front of me. We were traveling down a 1 lane street, so there was no way for me to get around him unless I wanted to go into the opposite lane (Which was a no passing zone I should also add). His stupid exhaust system was giving me a head ache because this was by far the loudest and most annoying ricer ive ever seen. I've seen him trying to launch at the light by my house and thinking hes got a dragster, and its just so annoying. His car looks aweful too. I should also add in that I have a 94 3.4L Camaro and I dont have a drag car either. I dont usually race people unless they are annoying me. I dont race V8s either.. they would leave me in the dust.
He noticed that I was behind him, and he was trying to intimidate me by speeding up and then slowing down, which was only giving me more of a head ache. We finally get into a 2 lane road and he is waving his arm trying to get me to line up beside him at about a 40 roll. I originally wanted to pass him and not even bother. Then he starts to laugh at my car as I pass him. I'm thinking to my self, WTF is he laughing at, his car is a piece of junk. I just keep going. Then he does a "Ricer flyby" on me and thinks hes got the quickest car in the world. I'm pretty pissed off by this point because those damn exhaust systems are pretty annoying on the ricers. So he slows down and looks at me once our cars are about even. He then signals a 40 roll with his hands because he couldnt talk over his piece of crap exhaust system. I thought this would be the only way get him to stop anoying me. I then nod my head. He down shifts when I nod, and I do to. He beeps 3 times and were off. at about 80, I had about 3-4 lengths on him. I finally shut down at about 90ish since it wasnt the best place to be going that fast. once I get back down to about the speed limit, I meet up with him at the light which was about 1/4 mile away. He looked at me and said "Bitch, you aint worth my time.", I said "I have a question for you... How do my new tail lights look when I'm driving?" He then said "Man, STFU". I was cracking up in my car. I just installed the LS1 tail lights the other week. he then replied, "You think that was a race?". I then respond by saying "Do you downshift and beep 3 times for all the cars pass on the road?". He then gives me the finger and then procedes to race his "Dragster" down the road, while I make a right handed turn onto the highway.
My car is probibly good for low 16s. I never took it to the drag strip before. It mainly just has a few bolt ons in it. It does have some other upgrades on it though. I dont know exactly how fast it is because I never took it to the track because thats not what my car was meant to do. That number is only a guess. It isnt a Z28, and is a everyday driver. I barely ever drag race my car only because its not meant to do it.
That in my opinion wasnt anything to be proud of either. Its not like I beat a car worth beating. It was a piece of junk toyota that looked terrible. Just thought I would share this with you guys.. You ever get any responses like my experience with this ricer? It kinda sounds like its a common thing though.

 

Good kill! We need to start getting vids of these ricers going down in flames. I highly recommend upgrading to at least an LT1; they make great, affordable DDs and will take down imports with more money into them.

I would love to have an LT1 in addition to my LS1. I'm with NightWindDrftr, LT1 will be a nice DD, get one the same color as the Camaro you have now and track that guy down

 

Good story bro but i would rather roll a 3rd gen for a DD, mainly because you can buy clean dependable 12sec 3rd gens for 3k-5k and destroy any ricer in your path.

ive never had any do that to me, however i have had people race me that i didnt know were lol. Take of from the light normaly and then someone slowly passes you and you can hear them winding out there engine. They slow down and give you the i just handed you your butt look... i usually floor it at that point to show them i wasnt racing but they never pull up next to me afterwards...

Good kill. You fell victim to the "well I have a TOYota, and you have a P.O.S. domestic, so it MUST BE not only more reliable than your ride, but faster as well" syndrome.
The sad part is that it's not just the rice-a-jabronies who think this way, but the brainwashed general sheeple/lemming populace as well.

seriously though, that kid sounded like a douch. I usually 'pretend' I'm racing when kids do that **** and let them slowly walk by while I drive along in 6th gear doing the speed limit. Some of those kids have NO idea how slow their cars really are, its much more fun to let them tell people they beat a z06 and let their friends all laugh at them.

 

I would maby do that if I had a Z28, but a 3.4L Camaro isnt being too unreasonable to beat. Yes, to most people, with his car it still would be, but not as much as a Z06 though.

I was having a lot of fun talking to the guy at the light though. If the light would have lasted longer, I was going to put him in his place even more than what I already did. "I bet that spoiler of yours helped you lose this race!!!"... "What junk yard did you pick your car up from?" ... I could have went all day on him. If he wasnt a jerk at the light, I wouldnt have been one back, but since he was.. I had to put him in his place. Nothing like losing to a 3.4L Camaro though after initiating the race.

 

Heh, perfect.. I loved your story. Paragraphs and spelling helped make my brain not hurt after reading it. And don't bang on your v6 all that bad man, I used to have a 97 ragtop. Ran a guy in a 55 chevy down Snoqualimie Pass. When we pulled into the gas station he wanted to know what size V8 I had..... I felt sooooo bad when I popped the hood to show him it was a 3.8 v6... He opened his mouth three times like he was gonna say something.. then clapped it shut, shook his head and drove away

 

I think its worse to lose to a V6 Camaro than a V8 Camaro... Thats just my opinion though . When I get my Z28 in the future, I'll be able to put about 20 lengths on him if I run into him again. Which I really dont want to happen because his car gives me a head ache from the sounds and looks.

I'm definately planning on getting a Z28 in the future though. This whole V6 thing is just temporary. Its just my warming me up for the Z28. Thats a whole lot of car to handle with out getting a little taste of a camaro first .
