If I was looking at a Saleen, here's what I would do:
Get a new shortblock and the P1 breathing mods.
Strap a decent blower on with intercooler.
All the bolt ons.
A good tune.
And then sit back and have a relaxing evening when its all done knowing that even if I just bought a GT with very low mileage I spent less than a fricken Saleen and have more power.
Dont pay for names only. If it has a good name and high price, its not neccesarily a rip. Lots of LG and RHS stuff comes to mind. They back their names with great results as compared to similar stuff. But man, I dont see the appeal of the Saleen stuff for the most part.

Last night I ran into a 05 Mustang with the Saleen charger on it. He was claiming 480 with it, and was automatic. He had the front bumper, and it looked DAMN good, but he didn't have the rest of the body kit. He also had the gt badges on the side, so I'm guessing he just bought the charger. Does his power seem about right?
