k so my buddy has an 01 cobra with fr500 heads fully forged motor and all the boltons. he claims outragous numbers(480hp). what do you think ill need to beat him?

oh yeah he lives like 1000miles away so i cant just race him. but ill be seeing him soon

 

If hes putting up numbers like that you are going to need a lot i would say. With my setup Im currently dynoed at 435hp. Gook luck.

 

If he has a solid axle, your toast.

 

An 01 cobra is not supercharged from the factory... does he have a supercharger/turbo?

 

There is one N/A mod motored cobra (big bore; 302ci) that I know of with the FR500 package and put down 476/380. But that motor is big bucks. I doubt he's putting 480 down. I'd guess closer to 410-420rwhp. -Mark

 

they do cost alot. just a side note, the fr500 body stuff was sexy as hell, and it sucks that it wasnt a production car

 

That's best case scenario.......IMO, the cobra in teh OP would have needed to put alot...I mean ALOT of $$ to get 410-420 RWHP out of that motor. There are a few machs with the FR500 packages with a fair amount (90%) of other bolt ons/mods that are 380-390 RWHP. IT's possible he has the motor bored/stroked and high CR and is putting down 400.

Honestly....I think the guy is guessing or BS'ing on his numbers...even @ 400rwhp. Those kinds of numbers just aren't very common in 4V's...N/A, due to the high $$.

Without knowing his full setup.....I would guess he is 380RWHP...or maybe even 380FWhp. But, none of us can know for sure without seeing a sheet, and knowing his setup.

 

I can vouch......what are his mods! I am making 480wrhp/423torque right now! I am fixing to chage to a smaller pulley and get another tune and i should be at the 525/510 mark easily! Whats going on!

480RWHP is VERY easily obtainable with FI on these motors. Fully forged motor with an eaton conversion (along with the required goodies) would make that.

well first off he has $$$ he has ford rancing short headers(titanium) bigger TB, a mac prochamber exhaust 3in all the way. cold air intake, and fr500 heads. forged motor but to factory compression. then all tuned up. and yes he is NA no blower at all and no new cams???? i yelled at him since he had the motor apart throw in some cams

 

oh and IRS but he has lots of supporting traction stuff. so he says. oh yeah a TBS lol. the shop threw one in for free cuz it was taking forever.

 

Um.......BFS....he is putting down 480. I dont' even think he is putting out 380 FWhp. He is probably at 310-320 RWHP. SHorties do jack crap for 4V motors. He gained single digits on that mod...I guarantee it. WHo does Forged motor at factory CR?...he HAS to be running a bottle and not telling you, OR he has something planned and will ahve it done before you get there. FR500 heads are not that much better than stock heads.........Sorry, either he isn't telling you everything, or he has NO idea what the best mods are for his car. Oh, and Larger TB, doesn't do anything at the power level he is at. All he did was improve throttle response.
