Default Z28 v. Lightning

had some pre planned races tonight with a built Lightning....not sure what alls done...i know for sure

-Camed
-Stalled
-Built Motor
-Ported Eaton
-Supposed HP~460

my major mods are in my sig.....MAYBE making 350 and thats pushing it..plus i was on M/T streets

30 Roll-only went to 80 b/c of traffic but he jumped out at first and i pulled him in by the time we hit 50
40 Roll-jumped a bit, but was slowly pulling till 110
50 Roll-side by side till 80..pulled car and half by 120

all in all good fun, just some friendly races with a car club buddy....wish we would have got some video's but nobody had a camera.

the 2004 ford lightning weighs 4670 lbs. so thats about a 1,000 more than u, so that makes a big big difference. im sure the older version lightningg were around the same weight

Let's also not forget that the truck is a lot less aerodynamic. That definitely has an effect on things since you guys got up to 120.

good kill. and ya a roll is definitely not their strong point. should run him from a dig, would probably be more interesting.

Yeah it takes a ton to move a brick through the air. Back in high school I had a 87 5.0 tpi a4 with 3.73s and a catback. One of my best friends had a 99 lightning for a while and I kid you not it was a drivers race when his was cold and after I ran him and got the s/c nice and hot I would walk him after 80 or 85. My car was pretty nasty for a stock 305 though.

Nice kill. Weight and aerodynamics easily explain that outcome. Lightnings are cool, but they're still trucks, so you have to expect the need for about 150+ extra hp just to keep up with most of our cars.

Now if you're running a GT500, that's a different story.......10-15 more rwhp is all it takes.

Good kill....
For once i agree with 88blackgt... Sticky tires on the Lighting & from a dig, and it'd be a hell of a race...

Somehow, even tho there's gotta be absolutely no weight in the rear of that truck, those things hook up very well from what i've seen...

I raced a pullied, tuned, bolt on lightning in my White car all motor and beat him by about half a car. That was a bolt on LT1. On the juice I took him by 5-6 cars.

He has since rebuilt his motor, ported heads, cam, ported blower, Drag Radials and what not. He wants to race the new Bird.
