Thumbs down Spun Into A Defeat Tonight

Got into a race with a Mach 1 tonight...we went from a light....now remember....I'm on stock C5 rim with the stock tires on them....and we go from this light....I roll and I just hit it way to soon....I fall back bad...about 4 cars or so....clicked 2nd....still spinning....I only started to gain back ground once in 3rd.....damn this cold weather and street tires....the worst part is....a girl was driving it...and it's not an automatic either....so yea...the WS6 takes a loss tonight due to driver error....I wanted to get a second try...but no such luck.....maybe another night weill prove to have a better outcome....I should get the driver mod next I guess....

That sucks bro! Those cars hit so hard of the line. If you can't get a decent launch than there is usually a lot of land to make up with those cars. It's okay though, you can get your revenge. I had something similair happen to me against a STi about a year ago, but I got my revenge...it just took a few months.

HAHA it happens. When i first got my M6 on street tires (drove A4 on DR's for 3 yrs before that), i raced my friends jetta and lost. TWICE! Both times i tried hitting the tires too hard and spun, spun, spun, shot off, then I'd FLY by him just after the marker.

I was sooooo pissed, they still havent let me off the hook for that one.

i have street tires on my car right now and the best way ive noticed to actually get moving forward is to lightly engage the clutch and get rolling maybe not even 10ft, then STEP into it as opposed to just hitting it. the same thing you described happens everytime i try to bang 1st & 2nd with these tires

Mach's spin hard off the line too, and going into 2nd if you just smash it to the ground.

They can if you don't know how to drive it but as a general rule, Machs and just Mustangs alone leave harder than most cars do with similarly skilled drivers.

**** happens to all of us sometimes. Don't sweat it. Before my traction control was
turned off in the tune, I left it on while racing once. It wasn't pretty.

Yea I wouldn't sweat it either simply because you know why you lost and what to watch for next time. Have fun but be careful it gets kinda slick out there

I tried rolling out...but I guess I just didn't give it enough time...but with my car anything is in 1st gear on street tires is worthless....I would have been better just starting off in second...

Yea...I wish my car had traction control...haha...but I think the Mach 1 had it...but I really don't know...she didn't even spin....so I'd have to assume traction control was on...who knows...I lost...I'm not trying to complain...just wanted to rant about it....

My 99 Cobra left hard because it didn't have the hard torque hit the Mach's have. And trust me I was driving a Mach 1 last week they can spin just as easy as an F-body. Especially low down in 1st gear or from a low roll.

Machs have a pretty steep 1st gear if memory serves. Thats a bigger factor than about anything else when comparing similar power levels when it comes to behavior in the first 60 feet.
