Hmmmm... I don't know bout that one buddy. If it was a real AMG 550 he was probally just playing with you.

Monte SS vs AMG V12 So today on the highway, I came across an AMG V12 (The C*model number* was removed). He was coming up pretty quick, so I sped up to roll beside him to admire the car. He thought I wanted to race. So he slows down, and I go with it, (No one else is really on the highway), he honks twice (Not used to racing maybe?) and he punches it. A beautiful sound, too. Now, I know it's an automatic, so I punch the gas to the floor, and keep up to about fourth with him, and by now we're going about 132, and he just takes off in fifth... I kept up untill he pulled on me in 4th, and then he was just gone. All in all, I say a good job for a car completely outclassed (Mine)

Although there is a ritch kid with the AMG 550 (auto vert...daddys car)who goes to the gym I work at. Maybe I can talk him in to doing a couple runs to get a better idea of what those cars are all about.

Assuming it was the twin-turbo V12 model, 120mph+ trap speed car vs. a maybe 100mph trap speed car?

first of all there is no 550 AMG. the AMG cars have double digits. (ex. SL65 AMG, CL63 AMG) Second of all, if it was a Biturbo V12 it would be at least 500hp at the flywheel. if the numbers were 55 as in SLK55, CLK55, E55..... you are talking anywhere from 355hp to 469hp at the flywheel.

was it a coupe? 4 door? vert? what? i came across an article that was talking about this V12 twin turbo powered mercedes that ran like an 11.5 in the quarter, and cost a rediculous amount of money. its not that fast if you compare it to the newer corvettes with N/A V8s, and atleast a quarter of the price.

The AMG V12 twin turbo's if i'm correct are rated at 620 fwhp, play with the ECU and retune your up to 650fwhp

you are not correct. there are two versions of the biturbo V12. one makes about 493-510 fwhp depending on the year. the other makes 604 fwhp. the supercharged V8 makes 469-510 fwhp.
