I said "decent," as in not a butt-raping. Bullitt *should* run low 13s with a good driver, due to the slight bump in hp over the regular GTs, and the 3.73 gears. Which is enough to kinda hang with an LS1 from a dig. Do you really think a Corvette is much faster (if any) than an F-body?

Don't forget they weigh 3-400lbs less. Even though a stock C5 makes the same power, with equal mods for both cars (gear, etc), the vette should definately be faster

We're not talking about C6s... a C5 is roughly 3300lbs, compared to an LS1 F-body which is only 100-200lbs more. They both run low 13s (widely accepted average), with examples of both cracking 12s stock.

where are you getting your info? I know a C5 Zo6 is just a tad over 3000lbs. A regular C5 is not going to be much more than that. I swear dude you'd argue with a wall. You give me two equally prepped vehicles and I gurantee I'll run better in the C5

C5 weight per various Yahoo sources:
3223 for standard, 3245 for auto.

For god's sake you all are quick to jump on anyone's case who doesn't bow down to the LSX. I'm pretty sure all Irunelevens is trying to say is that a race between an LS1 Fbody and C5 would be a drivers race. Personally, I hung within a 1/2 car of a C5 Hardtop M6, while I am bone stock. A race between a new Buillitt and an LS1 Fbody should be a drivers race as well, with an advantage to the LS1 (considering the listed 1/4 mile for the Bullitt is 13.7 @ 103 )

****, that bullit time is still better then a regular new edge gt. What gears come in a m5 gt, 3.55 or something to that effect? Or lower? I know mustang guys love the steeper gears, and I could see a bullit being a potentially good race against a stock ls1.

3.55s for M5s, 3.31s for A5s, and 3.73s for the bullit. You can special order 3.73s.

THis was all up to '07. THings might have changed in 08-09.

Far be it for me to question yahoo's figures, but I find it hard to believe that a regular C5 weighs over 100lbs more than the same year Zo6. But I'll drop it since it really doesn't matter. Yes all the cars we're speaking of are driver's races as the driver makes 90% of the difference anyway

For those cars...since I do not know the actual transmission gear ratios...is it a large difference between the 3.55s and the 3.73s? I mean...if the bullit is high 13s, and the gt is mid 14s, that does seem like a decent difference. How nice would a 4.10 option be on those cars lol.

I think you are thinking of the 01 bullit (new edge). THe S197s are 'generally' mid upper 13s. THe bullits of 08 have a tad more HP and the rear gears. THat makes up for the few tenths difference.

I was refering to the new edge actually. I must have missed it somewhere earlier in the thread...we are talking about S197's? In that case...the 13.7 time I read in here should be off. Stock S197s run higher 13s, and so the bullit should be running say, 13.4s or so, right?

C5 Z06s are a hair over 3100lbs, actually. ~3120lbs IIRC. They're just under 50lbs lighter than the regular FRCs, which puts the FRC at ~3160lbs. And the FRC is right around 100lbs lighter than a regular C5. Which puts the regular C5 Targa at ~3250lbs, depending on options. I argue with people about factual information, btw. Not just what I think

Actually, a C5Z is roughly 100 pounds lighter than a reg. C5.

Ive got a question. If a c5 and a fbody is a drivers race, then why is it that my friend here keeps telling me that a stock c5 not z06 model but just base model c5 would rape my car?

Ya know that makes a lot of sense. He thinks because he test drove a 98 base model c5, and is thinking about getting one, that everything he reads on all these different websites is true. He has told me many many times that even after I do my full exhaust and tune that one would still walk me. It gets kinda irritating. And by the way, irunelevens, I wasn't trying to start anything when I said another pissing match, I just get so tired of people arguing over what is better, mustang or camaro or vette or whatever. To each his own, if we all had the same taste, many of us wouldn't get laid.

It also depends on what year the vette is too. My friends father has a 98 auto and I swear I think my last LT1 would out run that car..it is slow as *****! Then I ran a 99 6 speed FRC with exhaust and barely edged him out to 100 with him starting to come at me a little around 100. It seems like there was a good bit of difference between the auto and the 6 speed vettes (stockish). As far as a bullet, the only thing I have raced was the new edge style and, well maybe he wasnt a good driver, but he didn't put up much of a fight.
