Control arms connect the axle to the body. Adjustable ones will lengthen or shorten the arms, which will make the axle move forward or backward. In almost all cases you don't need to adjust them. Most of the people who are getting the adjustable arms are getting them for the benefit of rod or poly ends which happen to be adjustable.
