Default Another clunking thread...

I searched on this topic with no real solid answers. So its the car in my sig (78k miles)- and it seems to only do it when its cold out now that I noticed it (drove it a little today).

When I'm backing up or going forward really slow with the wheel turned almost to lock (leaving my driveway for example) the front end feels like its clunking and shifting before I come to a stop, then again when I start moving until the wheels are straight. Its tough to describe but I figure enough guys on here have plenty of experience with F bodies. My girls dad said it could possibly be bad ball joints, another thread said maybe tie rods, but the tie rods are solid.

Anyone know where to start checking or if they have had this problem before? Thanks!

check the sway bar links. And you can also check your ball joints by grabbing the tire at the 12 and 6 o'clock positions and rocking it back and fourth. If its a bad ball joint you should feel/hear clunking.

Proper way to check ball joints is with a dial indicator. If it clunks by hand it is beyond bad and is in dangerous condintion.
