Unhappy Trans mounted torque arm problem.

Alright, here's the deal. on my friends 2000 WS6 we heard a loud clunk from under the console. Pulled into the house, jacked it up and found the torque arm mount on the trans was bent and the bolt was completely missing. Here is a link to the pictures i snapped while down there looking at it.

If anyone has any information on replacement mount or the size of the bolt / nut, any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks,

Tom

Default Torque Arm Problem!

Hello Tom,

The best thing that I would suggest to you and your friend is you could always go with a torque arm relocation Kit. what that does is completely gets the torque arm off the end of the transmission. If you have any other questions or problems feel free to ask or call!

Thanks Again,
Brad

i think we were kind of looking for something a little cheaper than 250 dollars haha. That looks like a nice kit but a 10 dollar nut and bolt and possibly a new clam shell is more reasonable at this time. Thanks though, I'll keep that in mind.

Anyone else?

check some of the parting out listings in the for sale section or some of the vendors that do used parts, but honestly Brad is right, the torque arm mounting area is a known weakness in these cars. Your friend got lucky - it didn't snap his transmission tailshaft in half

i appreciate the responses. i know brad was right with the tunnel mount relocation, but it's an expensive route to go and not really an option at this time. Thanks for the advice guys.

alright so, we found the part #'s for the clam shell / clamp that attaches to the torque arm but no one has any idea the size of the bolts that hold it together. here are the PNs

torque arm mount and bracket, inner = 10252374
torque arm mount and bracket, outer = 10252375

and if anyone has any idea of what bolts we need, let me know! Thanks

Tom

Any of you guys ever here of the Global West track link torqe arm kit ?I got and installed mine last year after my buddy bought 3 of em for all 3 of his BUILT F bodys. Im happy as **** with it and its quite too.It ties the whole car into the torqe arm,not just one pivot point like the rest. Its not bad at $580either, i think?

might be worth a looksee.

and just a heads up if anyone ever has this problem the top bolt is a M10x1.5x30 thanks for the replies!

It's fixed now, apparently the clamp wasn't bent or broke it just completely came apart haha. he bought a relocation kit but until that comes, the car is drivable.

Ya I was going to say it looks like just the bolt is missing. The tunnel relocation mounts suck imo.
