Default Quick Front Shock Question

I'm in the middle of putting new shocks on the FRONT of my 02 camaro.

I do not see a traditional bump stop anywhere. Not on the old shock, not on the new shock, not on the lower control arm, not on the frame of the car.

Is the rubber isolator at the top somehow supposed to act as a bump stop? Or am I missing mine?

ALSO- the new shock did not come with any protective boot to cover the piston rod. Do I need to get one?

Thanks a bunch

Dave

Ok the shock manufacturer said no boot necessary. Now, can someone at least tell me where the front bump stop on a stock car is. Thanks again. Dave

Inside the dust boot above the shock body, and right below the upper mount.
That's where the factory bumpstop is!

You can take the Bump stop out of the boot.

thats what I was afraid of.

The stock shocks are long gone. And the new ones didn't come with any of course.

The shop manuals don't mention anything about them. Don't have any part numbers. The shock manufacturer doesn't know anything. I guess I just need to get an approximate bumpstop from energy suspension or something, which I don't like because I don't think polyurethane is as good as rubber for this job.

Thanks for the response!

Buy 2 of these, and you'll be good!
Same bumpstops that come on the koni SAs, and DAs.

thanks 99.

I just wish "replacement" shocks didn't require you to re-use what could reasonably be called part of the old shocks.
