Default Question on replacing an outer tie rod end

This morning I was replacing the driver side outer tie rod end and when I went to loosen the adjustment nut on the steering rod that the tie rod end butts against, the whole steering rod turned instead of just the nut... is this OK?

I replaced the tie rod end and then tightened things up again and took the car for a short drive and everything seemed OK (although I know I need to get it aligned again ASAP).

If you put it back about where it was and you get it aligned you should be fine.

Yeah, I'm just worried about the steering shaft actually turning, I assume that's OK but I wanted to be sure.

That shaft is how they do the alignment by turning clockwise or counterclockwise to adjust the toe in/toe out. Doesn't matter if you turned it or not as you are going to have to get it aligned after you are done with the outter tie rod replacement. Just put it back together the closest you can and take it to get aligned first thing.

Cool, thanks When I took it around the block the alignment was definitely worse off then before, lol.
