Default Coilover Question

I'm looking to do some suspension modification for a better drag setup on my '02 T/A, and have come across rear coilover kits. My question is, what is the advantage of having coilovers in the back vs just having the normal spring and shock setup?

With the rear coil over setup you have more spring choice and height adjustment. We have alot of customers in the 7 second range using a stock style spring and a good double adjustable shock.

Hello
Like mentioned above a coil over set up is great for adjusting ride height and you do have a lot of different spring choices for assisting with weight distribution. What I would suggest looking into is a set of front coil overs with a 275lb spring (we have found this to be the most efficient spring at the track). And depending on what rate you choose for the rear and if you go with a good adjustable shock as well. And once the suspension is dialed in you will have a good set up for sure. Below is a link to show you what I am explaining.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help.
Thanks
Brad

If rate/rideheight is what you are seeking ...

As far as advantage ... for a solid axle car, I don't think there is much to gain from a true coil-over. In the F-car, the spring and shock location is so close and in the same general geometry that there is little difference in transition speed and transition angle.

If you compare it to say a Fox Mustang where the spring is intergrated into the LCA, then there is more to gain. The spring and shock compress and rebound at differnet speeds.
