Removing e-brake cable from rear
My ebrake cable has a spring on it and I can not seem to get it off the hook on the back of the brake assembley. Any tricks to this? Thanks!

Why are you trying to take it off? (Its a lot easier to do if you are working on the e-brake mechanism at the time.)
There is an easy way to get it off without wrestling the spring. (Kent-Moore has a special tool for this, but I recall it being $100.) The catch is that if you slip, you may have to go in and rebuild the e-brake mechanism.

If you do the vice grip thing and can get the spring back off the lever, you can undo the two screws holding the small frame that holds the lever to the back plate. That will allow you to pull the lever out slightly and angle it out of the attachment, but...
The other end of the lever that you can't see has a socket that engages a push rod in the e-brake mechanism. If it disengages the rod, it may be difficult to get back in there unless you completely disassemble the e-brake and put it all back to together.

Old thread revisited while doing a search on how to remove this. Thought I'd help those who may be searching on how to do this so here it goes.
No special tool is needed just proper use of a flat head screwdriver on the prongs while pulling on the cable until it comes out giving you enough of the cable to remove it form the brake actuator.
