Default Torque arm mount question

My Tq arm mount on my transmission is all mangled up. I have another one to replace it with but my question is, can you swap the mount with the transmission in the vehicle? Thanks guys.

Yeah it can be done take off the top bolt first so you can move the torque arm and the rest of the bolts are pretty easy

Just put the new mount on yesterday along with the poly bushing. You do have to drop the trans a little to get the mount out as well and pop the brake and fuel lines out of the retainer to gain a little more clearance. Just thought I would share that for people in the future. Took about 1 hour including drilling out the rivets. Here is a pic of the old mount, I also had to replace the cage, no wonder I was having traction issues and wheel hop.

If you decide to take the torque arm off of the tranny our relocation crossmembers will do the trick. One added benefit to going with the crossmember is this allows you to adjust the front of the torque arm up or down. If you do any racing this effects how your car launches. Give me a call if you have any questions.

+2 on the BMR crossmember, installed, zero problems I track the car and it's much more stable braking and when I'm on the gas. Nice to be able to adjust the pivot center for the rear. . One of my better suspension mods

Do you have "ANY" excessive drivline noise? I had the tunnel mounted tq arm installed for about 2 hours. After installing it and adjusting it, there was just too much driveline noise inside the car that I just took it right off and sold it. I was going to try that relocation X-member, but I'm afraid it will be the same way and I'll end up selling it for a lose of money again.

Hello,

You won't receive any additional noise with the relocation kit installed, they work very nice on the street. UMI also offers a full line of relocation kits and I posted a link below.

If you have any questions please ask. Thank you!

Didn't notice any more noise after the install. My car has the SLP dual-dual and is not real loud, so I would have noticied. Yes! tunnel mounts are known for being loud.

I did some work trying to come up with a better transmission mount for the torque arm (see pic) It was much better than the stock mount but still put a lot of stress on the trans So I just ended up going with the BMR relocation cross member cause I liked the design better, I could adjust the swing center for tuning the suspension and had more clearance around the headers than some other designs I have seen.

That is a nice design but your right it still puts alot of stress on the tailshaft.
Thanks toadzq8 for the kind words about our crossmember and thank you for being a BMR customer.

Hello, no there is no excessive noise with our crossmember. It bolts in the same location as your original transmission crossmember not to the tunnel. The part is well worth the investment.

I am one of your customers and have said this before. I guess you only hear what you want to hear. Making a definative statement "will not increase noise" is false. I feel may or may not would be more suitable. Either way I added my opinion.

Now that is something I'd be interested in. I've tried tunnel mount/relocation mounts but don't care for the noise but still don't like the flimsy standard tranny torque arm mount.

My experience has been the bushing material has more effect on noise than the diff between the trans mount and Crossmember mount torque arms. When I first made the proto type trans mount above I made it with a soft rubber bushing, only after I went to a BMR adjustable torque arm and went with their poly bushing did I note more noise very little, but to be fair more. When I changed it over to a BMR crossmember torque arm mount with the same poly bushing No different!

Like you stated earlier you are going to feel a little more road noise because of the bushing material. The urethane does not absorb the nvh like rubber does.
