suspension question?

suspension question? Sorry if this is a silly question but it has been bugging me for some time. I have a 93 Z28. At one point it was up on a lift at a Chevy dealer and I was told the car had a lift kit installed. Later on I was told by another mechanic that my car had adjustable suspension or something like that so that it could be lowered or raised. I am not the first owner of this car and I am wondering if what these people are saying about the suspension and a lift kit makes any sense?? If so what does it sound like has been done to my ride?
