Hey man, cutting springs is just fine and will work great. I have lowered over 20 local F-bodies by cutting their stock coils..

I usually cut 1-1.5 coils off depending on the desired ride height people want. 1 coil off is going to lower the car roughly ~.75-1 inch. 1.5 coils will lower anywhere from ~1-1.5 all the way around. I wouldn't recommend cutting more than 1.5 coils, I cut two off one guys car and that thing was almost sitting on the tire, to low.

Just make sure to use a tool that has fairly high rpm, and a good cutting disk. You don't want the spring getting to hot, so a quickest cut as possible is good. Shoot me a PM if you have any more questions....

Damian thanks alot for the info....I think i'll start at the back and cut a coil off first to see how it looks.....since the back is the easiest....In case there needs to be more cut off...I don't want my car slammed but just want some of the gap taking out so 1 coil should be good??????

1 coil will work, but if you cut the back only and leave the front uncut you will see ZERO difference. The front coils will still hold the car up. I've tried this before just as a test, but had to cut the fronts before the car would settle down...

Start with 1 coil all the way around, the back is the easier, but the fronts will need to be cut before seeing the difference..Good luck

How long did it take to take out and reinstall the springs not counting cutting time? Also did you use air tools or hand tools? Thanks Royce

Swapping springs can take anywhere from 45 minutes, to 3-4 hrs depending on what tools you're working with. A mechanical spring compressor does WONDER for saving time, but most have to use a manual spring compressor which sucks. I've personally gotten a spring swap time down to around 1.5 hrs, with a MANUAL compressor. If I had a mechanical wall-mounted compressor the job wouldn't take more than 30 minutes. Then again, I know every single socket size required for a spring swap, and where it goes

Damian hit the nail on the head.......I could say after already doing i could swap a set in and out and hour.......I did have air tools to work with and it makes the work faster and easier......
