You will probably have to undo the swaybar endlink to allow the a-arm to swing down far enough.

I have never been able to get a stock sping/shock out without taking off the endlinks. The sway bar is holding the a-arm up holding the shock in. If you can get the arm to move down a bit more it should come out. You don't have to take the end links off, but thats how I have always done it. Just easier to me.

i just did my fronts today (stranos and koni 4/4s) it definately makes it easier to unbolt the sway bar end links. i have a question for you guys, when you install aftermarket shocks, when the spring is in the spring compressor and your putting the top rubber piece on the shock, how much did you tighten the nut? im getting some clunking in the front and think its because i didnt tighten the nut enough, i only tightened it so there was five threads above the nut. please help

When I did mine the other day I compressed the spring quite a bit and put the upper mount and isolator on and let it fall untill it stopped. When I talked to sam he said you only need it snug, but I made sure that the little rubber piece at the bottom started to bulge a tiny bit as I tightened it. Simmilar to the rubber bushings at the top of the rear shock. I by no means put it on tight, but I had quite a bit of shaft left over at the top when I was done. No problems here yet. I am going to take another drive just to make sure tho.

yeah you definitely need to tighten it down more... the shaft on the stock struts is smaller so that's why there aren't as many threads showing when the bolt is tightened... when the compressor is on the spring and you're tightening the nut down you will be able to feel when it stops and i would snug it a little more than that and you should be good
