Default Rack and Pinion Conversion

I am in the process of converting the nasty drag-link steering to a rack and pinion on my nova. I am diong this for a couple of reasons. Number one, drag-link has terrible steering feel. Number 2 and more importantly the power steering pump in the accessory drive kit has a tendancy to burst the high pressure lines. I grabbed a rack from a 4th gen v6 camaro in the junk yard and everything looks like it will line up perfectly except the rack is too long from end to end. I'm hoping that I can find some shorter inner and outer tie rod ends, or some that have more adjustability.
Has anyone done a steering rack conversion before and solved this problem? Or does anyone know what I need?
I spent an hour or so searching around only to find OEM replacements. I would really apreciate some help.
