US Veterans, please read.
I wish I felt like soldiers were doing things to honor the Constitution, and defending the nation, instead I feel like they are pawns subjugated to the whims of politicians with imperialistic agendas.
I liked the story of Michael New, now THAT is an American!:

"A patriotic American soldier is being court martialled for refusing to wear a United Nations uniform and to serve under a foreign commander. When U.S. Army Specialist Michael New took the oath to defend the United States from its enemies and to uphold the U.S. Constitution, he meant exactly that. He had no idea that he would be asked to ignore that oath in order to serve the United Nations, wearing UN insignia and following orders from a foreign UN commander. But that is exactly what happened in August. Michael New was serving in Germany when he was told that his unit was to be sent to Macedonia for UN "peacekeeping" operations. In Macedonia, he would be expected to take directions from a foreign officer and wear UN garb. His mission heading stated that his unit would act to "make the UN presence known.""

For completely ruining a thread! Thank you to all those who fight and have fought on our behalf!!
....instead of other douche nozzles who sit back and feel the need to let the world know on the internet their opinion on how horrible this country is and blah blah blah...dude get a life. In case you have forgotten, its because of men like me and the rest of the veterens who have served and are still serving now who have given you the FREEDOM, which is a privelage not everybody in the world has, to sit in the basement of your mother's house and express your unwanted opinion of the government you hate so much. If you did this in some of the places Ive been while I was "policing the world," youd get your hands chopped off so you couldnt type your opinion anymore.
What have you done for your country? Have you ever served? Call of Duty isnt real combat buddy...When you decide to be thankful for what youve got let me know. People like you make me
I dont think you even know how good you have it here. If you think this country is such a dump go live somewhere else; I havent sacrificed 8 years of my life and time away from my family and friends to fight for people like you. I did it for the ones I love and the for the people who believe in what this country stands for. Dont get me wrong, you are more than welcome to have your own opinion, but sometimes you just need to know when to shut your hole. Thanks again Sam.

I enlisted "Delayed Entry" in july 2001. In september EVERYBODY and their mother asked if I was gonna cancel my enlistment. I could only say "Hell no! Not when my country needs me most." I served 2 tours in Iraq. In 03 we crossed the border shooting cannons. In 04 I was based out of Ramadi doing the infantry work.
As I think back on those friends and brothers lost, I think of those supporters who are always near and always willing to hold me up when I'm about to fall. Again, THANKS FOR THE SUPPORT AT HOME.

I am thankful for the freedoms we still have left in this nation, but it is quickly eroding since most people do not defend them.
I would not want to serve in the way Michael New was asked to serve -- under a UN Commander -- are you kidding me? Did you know the UN was founded by Communists? Some of these undeclared wars are actually originating with the UN, yet we are paying for it -- Iraq War:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_...d_the_Iraq_War
Now if there was a legitimate attack on the US and the nation needed to be defended, I would be PROUD to serve. For the record, I have never played the video game you reference, and own my own home.
My Dad was drafted in the Vietnam War -- do I think that he helped defend our freedom or helped make our nation more free? No. I do think it's ironic that you say you are defending our freedom, yet attack my 1st Amendment right to say what I think. Obviously this country is not as good as it could be, and we SHOULD want to improve it.

Regardless of how you feel about how we got into wars or how this country is run (I have my own opinions here as well), the fact is the folks serving aren't the ones at fault and deserve our support.
If you want to discuss the politics then the anything goes section would be better.
All I wanted to do what salute those who served, not start a debate.
Thanks again guys/gals for your service and sacrifice not only for the United States of America, but often for those souls living in other parts of the world as well.

My grandfather served in WW2, landed during the Normandy invasion. He was a combat engineer, and is one my inspirations for what I want to do with my life. My dad also served (not drafted) during the Vietnam war and my mother was a nurse in a military hospital in Okinawa (to stay with my dad). There's a military background in my household, and I am damn proud of my those members of my family and anybody else who chooses to serve or has served, whether out of choice or out of the countries call.
Take the politics elsewhere, there's forums set up for that and LS1tech is not one of them. Your mission seems to be to get this thread locked, your contributions are not welcomed.
I suppose you would rather push the mountain of debt the US created under the rug because you don't want us to point out faults? Don't you realize it will be generations that get screwed because of it? Wait a minute, it is now an "achievement" to be drafted for an undeclared war? Since when? Nobody said the US is terrible, but it is in decline and needs help from us all to get back on the up and up.
