You are probably thinking about hd bilsteins vs slp bilsteins. Slp has some bilsteins built to their spec, but they are basically the same shocks. FYI strano has slp for 385 plus shipping and like 420 for hd bilsteins.. Just ordered some stuff from strano he's a good guy to work with.

No Sam used to open up and re-valve the Bilsteins. From my understanding they were pricey ******* but my buddy had a set and damn they rode GOOD.

Dont think he does it anymore.

Unbalanced Engineering has them but they cost a bit more than the normal SLP/HD price

For the extra cost over the standard Bilsteins it seemed a lot of people didn't bother to revalve. I'm not sure, but does Bilstein, for extra cost of course, offer this service? Problem with revalving, is that you are "stuck" with that valving unless you take them off and re-revalve again. Seems that adjustable shocks would work better for most folks, not just the premium priced Konis. Even at "only" $50 per revalve, if you do all 4, you are getting dangerously close to those adjustable Konis. Did the revalves carry lifetime warranty? I like the idea of custom valving, but what is the perfect rate? Factor in the price of valving and it changes the scenario somewhat.

Ah, that makes more sense. Thanks for clarifying that guys. I'll just order some stanard SLP's from him then. I've heard many people say that they can't tell the difference from the standard and the HD's. Thanks guys.

I was under the impression the re-valved Bilstiens were around $500 a pair. i may be off on that though.

Sam's were around that price, but he doesn't do revalves anymore. The UE ones are 800 a pair so that's pretty expensive. Might as well stick with Konis for most spring applications that people tend to use.

Wow, funny how things get twisted....

I did used to revalve HD's. I don't anymore. FWIW it was around $500 for all 4 (fronts valved rears with a good off the shelf valving). But I don't do it any more for a few reasons. 1. Bilstein's got more expensive. 2. the rear vavling changed to something not as good, and would require a revalving, adding cost. 3. Add up 1 and 2 and the price started to get closer to Koni prices of 2-3 years ago--but without adjustment and without warranty. 4. Now that Koni's are on sale... it's just not cost effective to do it. Do the math, you'll see. $384.99 plus 4 revalve charges, puts you at a price not massively less than Koni 4/3's which have adjustment and a lifetime warranty both.

They sure will... But do the math. $65 x 4 (and then what do you want for valving?) Plus we were changing pistons which added cost. And you have shipping to and from as well. Again, would it be cheaper? Yes, but the value drops quickly vs. Koni's--which is why I quit doing them--that was the whole point initially to give more rebound control for a reasonable price. Now that price is climbing up toward things that have more flexibility and better warranty (no lifetime warranty on rebuild or revalves).
