After how many handling component upgrades do the 245/50/16 tires become a bottleneck for handling? I realize they suck, but are pretty expensive to upgrade.
Thanks in advance for any advice

Uhh.. In all honsety, I would say that tires could be your best or worst handling upgrade..
If it were my car, upgrading at minimum to a 17" 275 performance tire would be one of my first upgrades.
I run HPDE track days with a 275/40-17 Nitto NT-01's.

IMO it's more a question of how much power you've got. Now that I'm up to near 400rwhp after my cam, they are starting to give a little when accelerating hard. But, for now 1) it's fun

But, I'm a minority opinion here. Everyone thinks they have to have big rims and wide tires. For the girls I guess.
