Default stock shocks shot

So I just put some new wheels and tires on the z28. Noticed that a shock was busted.. now when my car sits, it looks like I have 1 lowering spring. My questions is should I just replace the one shock and call it a day? Or go with a full new set of shocks and lowering springs. My thing is that I'm broke as a joke now, and little money to fix. Are there any suggestions on a cheaper set of springs and shocks that any of you would reccomend? Like I said I really don't have money so I wouldn't mind just replacing 1 shock. Any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, I should have realized that, I was talking to a guy at the parts store and he said that. Anyone have anything to say about "sachs" shocks?

Get at the minimum KYB AGX's.. they are roughly the same price as the parts store garbage and loads better..

If you can afford it however, I HIGHLY recommend Koni's or Bilsteins. You will thank yourself for spending the money EVERY TIME YOU DRIVE YOUR CAR!

Bilsteins and KYB shock are about the same price right now - both at least a few hundred more than the auto parts specials. I've had both and frankly I actually liked the KYB shocks better because I liked messing around with the adjustment ***** for S and G's. Bilsteins are supposedly higher quality and have a better warranty, so the best choice right now is probably Bilstein. I have them on my current car and as expected, they are way better than the stock, worn out DeCarbons.

Im going with the Bilsteins when I do mine. You might want to look into the "SLP" Bilsteins if your doing lowering springs.

Their valving is set up for the spring rate of a lowering spring. And yes, shocks need to be done in pairs.

No, their valving is setup for the SLP Eibach version of lowering springs only...

No.. It was designed for SLP's springs, but the valving will work with most aftermarket lowering spring...

Where can you find these " slp bilstiens " and how low can you be before it does harm to the shock. My car was lowered when I bought it. By lowered I mean slammed.

What color are your springs? Post pics so we can see how slammed it is.

Generally the lower it is the harder it is on the shocks. HD's supposedly are not valved as aggressively (although Ive heard/read they are now the same as the SLP's, but I don't know for sure.) Thats a good question for Sam to answer.

There isn't as much room as there looks. Needs new front tires and my crossmember under the transmission scrapes everywhere because my shocks don't hold the car well.

btw, unless one of the shocks is binding up somehow, the shocks themselves absolutely do not affect the ride height in any way. the springs are the major thing that affects ride height.

these cars are known for being lower on the passenger side than on the driver's side, even straight off the showroom floor. do a search and there are many, many threads on this subject.
