Experience with SLP Bilsteins?
1. Will the Bilstein shocks make the car ride smoother?
2. Will the Bilstein shocks affect the handling of the car?
3. Will the Bilstein shocks affect how tight the steering feels?
4. Any other added pros or cons for these shocks?
Right after I bought my car in '95 ('96 Z-28), I had the OE DeCarbon shocks and Eibach ProKit springs together for a while and the car had a terrific stance, but rode like a buckboard. Then I swapped out the DeCarbons for a set of the SLP Bilsteins. The car rode and handled much better. However, I think that there are several variations of SLP Bilsteins...
Right now, I have the Strano/Koni set up on it, and it rides and handles quite well. IMHO, it would look a little better if it was a bit lower, but part of the better ride comes from the increased suspension travel, which is derived from the higher ride height.
Also, I was looking at buying SLP Bilstein shocks a set of 4. Do I also need 4 springs to replace at the same time? I don't understand or know all of what is in there yet.

1. Yes, well less harshly not so much softer...
2. Yes, it will track much better, and be a lot more connected to the road and your steering inputs
3. Yes, better shocks slow the roll rate of the car, meaning your steering inputs cause the car to react more quickly than when the body is flopping all over the place
4. Pro's are they are well built and not very expensive. I sell them for $379.99/set. http://www.stranoparts.com/partdetai...D=20&ModelID=7 Con's are that while hugely better than any run of the mill shock or old stock shock, they lack rebound damping relative to a Koni if you are really looking to make the car work as best it can.

I'm saying that the steins are a great shock even when it's time to get some new ones.
They never just go away; their quality of build is real good.
As a matter of fact, I think a used set of steins are better than a new set of KYBs.
