Default switch between 4 channel and sjm abs delete

i have a 4 ch rearend. purchased a set of 28" drag radials to use for track use only. with my 26" front wheels i'm sure the abs/tcs etc will fail/fault out. i read that u can pull the fuse to override this but then the brake bias is only 50/50 which would make it hard to do a proper burn out at the track.

is there a way to use a sjm abs/line lock kit and still keep access to the regular abs system when i put the regular 17" rears back on? or should i just yank the abs and forget about it?

There is no way to retain ABS on a part time basis with the kit. When you install the kit, its going to completely remove the whole bracket and ABS controller. Removing ABS is going to drop ~20lbs with your setup.

It's up to you if you want to try to work around your situation. If you feel strongly about having ABS and TCS on your car and the car's braking and wheel selection is not far modified from stock keep it. If you've never felt brake pulsing in your pedal or had TCS go off, you'll never miss ABS and TCS. Normal braking is not affected when you remove ABS/TCS. Actually, you'll have more control over your braking system since you'll now be able to tune the brake bias from the use of the proportioning valve.

Creating a "burnout" for the record is not affected by brake bias. This is what the line lock is for. You shouldn't be applying your brakes overcoming them forcefully. This is how you put unnecessary stress on the driveline, warp rotors and wear your pads.

Hope this helps,

Steve

You can just buy their line lock kit and keep ABS if you want. That's what I did for a while--and it worked for a while with 17s in front and 18s in rear. Eventually I modified the car so much the factory ABS didn't work so well anyway and I recently deleted the ABS. In hind sight should have done it all at once. I grew up driving without it so it's no big deal to me. With a little practice anyone can come pretty close. If you modify your car a lot (weight reduction etc.) the ABS system doesn't work so well anyway.
