Alignment with manual rack

Clearly having professionals with proper equipment is the BEST choice.
That being said, I'm in a location where the only professional within an hour refuses to perform my alignment...
SO I started by making sure the wheels/steering wheel were pointing forward, and on the rear end, put a strip of 1" wide masking tape along the edge of the tires, left a 1" gap and put a 2nd 1" wide strip parallel to that. Went to the front and adjusted the toe-in for both wheels to about the 1.5" mark relative to the rear wheels giving both front wheels very slight toe-in. I've driven like this for 3-4 months and nearly 1K miles with no noticeable adverse effects yet.
