Default Wheel speed sensor

My ABS INOP light is on and ASR stays off.. i've been told its most likely a wheel speed sensor my question is can the sensor just be replaced or do you have to replace the hub?? its a 99 Z28 anyone else had this problem?

You can replace the wheel speed sensor and they're usually pretty cheap. Try picking them up new if you can, don't want to do it again in a year. haha

The front sensors are built in to the hubs, but I recall that the rears are stand-alone. So... they are different front vs. rear.

You should get the car scanned for the ABS codes. That will give you an indication which sensor is having the problem. (Not all scanners can read the ABS system. Usually, its the higher end scanners that can do the job.)

is the car 3ch or 4ch abs system? the front sensors are in the bearing hub, and are NOT replacable by themselves... you have to replace the entire hub assy. the rear sensorsd are different depending on the system. Like mentioned before it will be a good idea to get the system scanned before you just sart go buying sensors, and possibly the wrong ones.

Need some help fellas for my 98 Z28.

Went over a really REALLY bad patch of pavement a few months ago. Right away, my ABS INOP and ASR indicator lights turned on; have stayed on ever since. First diagnosis I got not long after indicated that both front speed sensors were shot. Yesterday I had both front wheel hub assemblies replaced but the lights are still on. GM wants to charge me $250 just to look at it. What else can I do before forking over my cash to GM? Oh, drivability is unaffected. just don't dare totally slamming on the brakes!
