extend upper stock trailing arm?
Hi,
I have a 1987 Cadillac into which I am installing a 4.8 vortec engine and a 4L60E transmission.
I need to raise the differential in order to achieve the new 5 degree angle of the engine and transmission. I need to raise it 4-5 degrees.
So I guess I can use adjustable B-body trailing arms, but the problem is I don't want to put stiffer arms than stock ones because I don't want to have binding issues or damage the suspension mounting points on the frame.
Can I simply cut and extend the stock upper trailing arms? I was thinking of cutting the arms and welding some c-channel shaped parts between the two halves of each trailing arm. Or maybe just weld some extensions at the end of each arm and drill a hole. I need about an extra 1-1.5 inches, still talking about the trailing arms...ha ha!
