Default coil over help

i'm havin trouble gettin the spring to seat into the hole for it to go into. i have it to where it is nearly in the whole so i tried it at that, but now it clunks near everytime you hit a dip. the wheel well is in the way so when i compress the spring, it kind of bends i've tried a pry bar and a hammer, any suggestions so i don't have to mash my hands or bust my hand. it's my buddy's 98 honda accord

same springs i pulled off lol. only changed the struts. his car would thump real loud everytime you would hit a bump or dip. figured it was the strut and when i pulled the load off it fizzled air and leaked a bunch of crap juice out. it sounds just like it did, only does it much more often now. anyways, i will try to take pics might be a while
