subframe connectors

do subframe connectors really help that much and circle or boxed connectors

Amazin1 12-15-2012 01:14 PM

yes..very much. i went with these, along with everything else UMI offers for my car and am VERY happy with the results....

does it make a big difference if they r bolted on or welded in?

Amazin1 12-15-2012 03:13 PM

welded is better..less flex. but mine are bolted and still made a huge difference.

I went with 2 point weld in connectors and they did nothing but lighten my wallet and add weight to the car. I went tubular because they tuck up, are hard to see and I lost no ground clearance. I wouldn't buy again.

Amazin1 12-15-2012 03:13 PM

and you can always bolt in and go back and weld later if need be....

Depends on who you talk to.
IMO no, they don't. I have 3pt bolt in that are welded, they did nothing, but that being said I already fixed the actual problem, the shitty stock shocks.
If you want a solid, stable car that feels planted and well behaved you need good shocks, period.

carbed86fox 12-15-2012 05:01 PM

i have some lake wood 50 50s in the rear and i just dont like the feeling of how much the drivers side picks up when it hooks i can just feel it twisting even from a roll

carbed86fox 12-15-2012 05:01 PM

and yeah i wouldnt wanna weld something to my car if it wasnt going to work or not

This is what Sam Strano will also say FWIW.
I have not done SFCs yet. Dont know if I will.
MWC says if you do them make sure they are welded.

carbed86fox 12-15-2012 05:26 PM

ya thats what everyone is telling me that they should be welded but i heard the boxed ones will twist

Amazin1 12-15-2012 07:08 PM

if you are drag racing, subs are essential...anyone who says different has no idea what they are talking about. just like you said...the drivers side lifts up and twists the car...

Grr 12-15-2012 07:14 PM

If you say they do nothing, you obviously havent seen creased 1/4 panels that result from flex, which never happens on a car with SFC's

Subframe connectors are some of the best bang for the buck mods, right up there with gears. Unbelievable difference and a whole different car! And UMI is the shit. :thumb:

sjsingle1 12-15-2012 09:47 PM

love mine...UMI 3 point......must have in my book

bayer-z28 12-15-2012 10:03 PM

Oh, and typically tubular for better ground clearance, and boxed will kill about 1/2" of clearance.. not really that big of a deal, IMO.

3pt is a tad bit more rigid, but 2pt works fine if you're on a budget.. nothing wrong with them though. Still just as effective.

Dude... Seriously........... Do it.. I was reluctant to buy them too, but was floored at the difference.

FWIW: I added my SFC's after my spring/shock install and it was still a night and day difference.

Amazin1 12-15-2012 10:12 PM

same here...i lowered my car with eibach springs and tokico's and then i did my subs and i noticed a difference...

bayer-z28 12-15-2012 10:15 PM

^ I couldn't believe that it even effected braking performance! Un-fricking-believable difference. And before them when I would spin em from a roll, the car was rather unpredictable.. After SFC's, it would spin straight and was much more predictable and was more controllable. Get it loose and a degree or two off center, then just gently crack the wheel over to the other side and she would slide right over and straighten out. Such a difference in control.
